Alejandro Alcantara-Gonzalez is an alleged rapist from Seattle who was profiled as a web-exclusive on AMW's old website. Below is the archived description of the case:
Seattle Cops: Woman Survives Harrowing Rape Attempt
In the final week of spring 2004, a Seattle woman survived the most harrowing experience of her life minutes after helping out a friend in need.
The woman, who we'll call "Kim", had just dropped her friend off at the airport around 5 a.m. and arrived back home less than a half-hour later on June 16, 2004. As she went to open the door to her apartment, she realized the latch had been flipped from the inside, preventing it from opening. Thinking it happened when she left for the airport, Kim closed the door and shook it until the latch dislodged.
As she walked inside, two things caught Kim's eye: A pornographic movie was playing on her television set, and a man, whom she recognized as a fellow tenant, was creepily hiding behind the front door.
Kim's fiancé was at work at the time, and she had no one to help protect her from the stranger. Though she knew his face, and she knew who his family was, she had never spoken to him at any point in the past.
Kim screamed for her life and tried to run, but the stranger violently grabbed her arm. The two struggled in the hallway for what felt like a lifetime to Kim. After a frantic fight in which the man wrestled her to the ground, cops tell AMW he managed to drag Kim into the apartment, kicking and screaming.
Kim told cops that she knew the man was going to rape her, but there was nothing she could do as he had her pinned to the ground. While straddling her, cops say he beat her repeatedly, while telling her to stay quiet. According to police reports, she begged the man not to kill her and told him she would "be good."
All the while, Kim just waited for a golden opportunity to flee -- which thankfully came when the man reached for something on the TV stand. Kim got up and made a beeline for the emergency exit. Sprinting from the stranger, she was able to hear him yelling "I'll get you!" as she ran down the street, screaming for help.
Luckily for Kim, a good Samaritan let her into his home, and she immediately dialed 911.
Mexican National Running From Attempted Rape Charges
When authorities arrived, they found Kim bruised and battered, but thankfully, alive. Despite the horrors she survived, Kim was able to keep her wits about her and help authorities identify the man who she believes could have -- and would have -- killed her.
Within 48 hours, cops identified her attacker as Alejandro Alcantara-Gonzalez, but by that time, he’d hit the road. He never showed up for work the following day, and cops learned he'd probably fled to Mexico, his native homeland.
Many years have since passed, and detectives think he might very well have returned to the United States, thinking the pressure has lessened. But that couldn't be further from the truth.
Alcantara-Gonzalez has previously worked in Seattle and Bellevue, Wash., as a banquet server at a number of hotels. He has family throughout the greater Seattle area. Though his wife and son no longer live there, investigators believe they might have met back up with him at some point.
Alcantara-Gonzalez is a heavy drinker, which caused some marital problems for him in the past. He's been known to use the name Mario Torres Cruz, and his friends call him "Alex".
Thoughts? This is a scary situation and I absolutely believe Alejandro would have killed Kim if he had the chance. After all, she already knew who he was. I see nothing online saying he was captured, so I am assuming Alcantara-Gonzalez is still at large as of this posting date (6/16/2015).
