(above photo credit: newsok.com) Oklahoma City police are looking for a man charged with murder in a shooting Nov. 30. An arrest warrant was filed Thursday for Juan Manuel Ordaz-Melgoza, 28. He has been charged with two counts of murder and one count of assault and battery with a deadly weapon. Ordaz-Melgoza is accused of shooting Jose Garcia, 48, and Latosha Hawks, 27, who was pregnant. Hawks' unborn child and Garcia died as a result of the shooting, police said. According to the arrest warrant, Garcia, Hawks and a friend were sitting in a vacant lot near 12 SW 41. A black vehicle pulled into the lot and a Hispanic man got out of the driver's seat and fired multiple rounds. The friend ran in front of his pickup to take cover, according to court documents. He told police he saw the man who shot Garcia and Hawks and could identify him. He picked Ordaz-Melgoza out of a photo lineup. Hawks suffered a miscarriage after the shooting. Officers showed her a photo of Ordaz-Melgoza and she said, “That's the guy that shot me; that's the guy who killed my friend,” according to the arrest warrant. Ordaz-Melgoza's last known address was in Edmond. Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to call 911. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 235-7300. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.Thoughts? Just wanted to state the crime occurred on November 30th, 2012, however, the warrant was issued in 2013. Hence, the wanted year in the title. The one thing I couldn't find in any articles- whether it be because the news reports didn't do a thorough enough job and/or police are being tight lipped- is a motive. And I wish there was as it's hard to make sense of who would kill two people- one of them being a pregnant woman. Known motive or not, this is a very serious case. newsok.com/oklahoma-city-authorities-search-for-suspect-in-double-homicide/article/3750827Admin Note: If you have any news-related updated information on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

Considering the fact both a man and an unborn fetus were murdered, allegedly by Juan Ordaz-Melgoza, it's surprising this case hasn't gotten any further attention (although being a fugitive story, that isn't too surprising). Juan really needs to be found, whether he's still in the US or fled to Latin America. If he's caught in the US and convicted, I would personally sentence him to death.

It's nearing the end of 2017 so I checked the Oklahoma County warrants search page and found a still active 1st Degree Murder warrant for a "Juan Ordaz-Melgoza" as of 11/23/2017.
I would also hope this is among the cases being considered for future seasons of The Hunt.

I gave Ordaz-Melgoza a really high ranking on my seasonal Most Wanted of May '015, and I'm as surprised as many of you that this case has gotten so little publicity in the years since.

As of today, November 3, 2018, Juan Ordaz-Melgoza still has an active warrant in the Oklahoma County Warrants Search. So is unfortunately still at large.
Of course there has also been no media publicity at all this year on this really violent and tragic case. Perhaps a profile in the future on In Pursuit could change that if Juan's case was sent for consideration.

Wanted to add that in November of 2018, there was a federal Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution warrant issued for Juan Ordaz-Melgoza. According to PACER records, in October of 2018, authorities in Oklahoma City requested the assistance of the FBI in apprehending Juan.
It was determined that while on the run, Juan was arrested in Tijuana, Mexico under an alias. Juan has since been released from that prison and is still believed to be hiding out in Mexico.
No updates in the PACER records since then and the Oklahoma County Warrants search still confirms an active warrant as of today, August 15, 2020.
The fact that the local authorities requested help from the FBI nearly six years after Juan went on the run gives me hope that there still is an active investigation regarding this manhunt.
