Abraham Delgado-Apolonio was featured on the July 15th, 2006 episode of America's Most Wanted. Below is the archived description of his case:
Cops: Lover of America Abused His Freedom
Abraham Delgado-Apolonio was enjoying the freedom and the opportunities that he found when he came to the United States. But On May 7, 2004, cops say 26-year-old Delgado-Apolonio abused that freedom and violated the law.
Cops in Wichita, Kansas, say Delgado-Apolonio was talking with a girl in his red Honda Civic. It was around 12:30 a.m. But their nice midnight chat was interrupted by 20-year-old Ricardo Delorea, who approached them on his bike. An argument ensued. Cops believe it had to do with jealousy issues.
Police say Ricardo punched Delgado-Apolonio three times in the face and tried to escape. But Delgado-Apolonio was too angry to let it go. So he got out of the car, confronted Ricardo -- and cops say he was punched in the face again. At that point, Delgado-Apolonio had had enough. Cops say he walked back to his car, drew a handgun and shot Ricardo four times.
When cops arrived at the scene they only found Ricardo lying on the road with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead soon after.
Cops: Transient Fugitive May Still Be In America
Delgado-Apolonio is known to travel frequently. But even when cops believe Delgado-Apolonio went back to Mexico, they are almost certain that he is still in the United States, because he likes to enjoy the good life and make money here. Cops have traced him to places such as California and Colorado. They say he may be working in bars fixing cocktails or as a chef in a restaurant. Though Delgado-Apolonio is a man who claims to love this country, cops say he couldn't abide by its laws and honor its values.
Thoughts? I'm glad the archive is back since I confused this case for another case and now I know what Delgado-Apolonio was wanted for, LOL. In all seriousness, one thing that frustrates me about internet comments on fugitive cases is ignorant posters who assume every Hispanic fugitive is illegal. That is simply not true. While I don't want to make assumptions, it sounds like Delgado-Apolonio was either here legally or if he was illegal at least was trying to work a legitimate job before his allegd crime. That is why even though Ricardo Delorea is really who this case is about, it is also tragic that this young fugitive managed to allegedly screw everything up in one night.
As far as whereabouts, Delgado-Apolonio could be in Mexico but loves America. Since he has family in Calfornia, my feeling is he's possibly travelling back and forth between the two areas.
