Wayne Arthur Silsbee is a child crime fugitive who was an AMW web-exclusive case in the late 2000's. The following is the FBI's description of his case: Wayne Arthur Silsbee is wanted for his alleged involvement in multiple incidents of sexual assault involving several female victims who were between the ages of eight and ten at the time of the offenses. These assaults occurred between September of 1995 and April of 1996, in Clackamas County, Oregon. Silsbee was acquainted with each of the victim children, having either babysat for them or taken them to various events. Silsbee was charged with first degree sodomy, first degree sexual abuse, endangering the welfare of a minor, and first degree unlawful sexual penetration in a local arrest warrant in Clackamas County, Oregon, on July 24, 1996. A federal arrest warrant charging him with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution was issued on September 19, 1996, in the United States District Court, District of Oregon, Portland, Oregon. Thoughts? What's scary to me is Silsbee has had multiple alleged victims but hasn't been seen for nearly two decades. Who knows how many more children he potentially assaulted. The problem with catching him is he seems to be a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to jobs- although the most interesting is being an American Sign Language Interpreter- in my opinion that job can find him work in other countries as well. Oh, and Silsbee- if you're reading this- since you are a sign-language interpreter, here's a picture of what I'd like to see happen to you: www.fbi.gov/wanted/cac/wayne-arthur-silsbee/viewAdmin Note: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

The problem with finding Wayne Silsbee is that if he got rid of his beard and lost some weight, he would look totally different then the photos we have of him.

This is a guy I wish AMW would have profiled. Seems to me like if they didn't lead to his capture, they would have at least helped make his world a little smaller. Of course, there's a chance he could have been profiled between 1996-1998, but we don't really have a way of knowing that.

I no longer see Silsbee on the FBI's website. Although I'm assuming perhaps they simply removed him to make room for newer crimes against children fugitives. As far as I can tell, he's still at large as of this update. (7/15/2018).
Of course, if anyone has any updates/proof-of-updates one way or the other, they can always feel free to let us know.

Wow, I bet none of us saw any signs this was coming! Get it, signs? I'll show myself out!
In all seriousness, I'm glad the OP closing photo can now apply to Silsbee as well and he can hopefully be brought to justice for his multiple alleged offenses. (Ronald Lyons was another cold case fugitive wanted for child sex crimes that turned himself in out of nowhere after decades, but he got a slap on the wrist. You shouldn't get any credit for surrendering (if convicted) since you shouldn't have fled in the first place).

He was in fact removed from the fbi website..... it’s a shock he turned himself in, I hope this will push the fbi to add Bruce Sawhill or Elby Hars to its List.

Same goes if you managed to stay on the run for a long time before finally getting caught. Even if you've lead a crime free life,it shouldn't be matter for serious crimes such as child molestation, murder. Before AMW Capture #1124 Larry Burns was sentenced to 70 years in an Indiana prison for the murder of his ex wife Vicki Oliver, his family and friends said the crime free life he led for the 24 years should be taken into consideration. Vicki's family rightfully countered that he had never had to pay a price for killing his ex-wife nor trying to kill her mother. A mother who still blamed herself for not being able to save her daughter. The judge wasn't moved by Larry or his family's pleas and told him the only thing he had successfully done for 24 years is live a lie. The same issue came up in another high profile Indiana case, albeit a non AMW one. Linda Darby murdered her husband in 1970 and was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole. She would escape in 1972 and would stay on the run for 35 years, remarrying and having several kids during that time. When she was caught in 2007,the community in TN where she had lived for 32 years and her family said she had proven she wasn't a threat to society and should be allowed to go home. The victim's family pointed out that she could have simply left the marriage she was in back in 1970 if she was unhappy instead of committing a cold blooded murder and that she shouldn't be rewarded for the fact she managed to escape and stay on the run for so long. The judge agreed telling her and her supporters that she doesn't have the right to give herself a pardon and go on her merry way. She is now serving out her life sentence and rightfully so. In this case, whatever the max is,Silsbee should get it. As you said Scumhunter, the right thing to do would have never been to flee in the first place and he doesn't deserve a break for turning himself in now, whatever reason it is.

I think a classic example is Vance Roberts who turned himself out of nowhere back in like 2006. I think John Walsh's assessment was correct- the reason why is he figured enough time had passed and no one would believe witnesses who were admitted prostitutes and he figured he could beat the system. It may not be guilt or anything but a deliberate plan to lift the burden off their heads. Often times, such as in the David Lee Kemp case, the fugitive turns themself in because they're in such poor health it's basically the only way they can further survive. (Prison doctors treatment etc...) or they were drying up financially. It's not a matter of doing the right thing but they had no choice.

That’s a surprise. Hopefully he didn’t victimize any more people in the last few decades.

Thank goodness justice prevailed in his and his brother's cases. In other cases though, the stay on the run long enough and you can get away with it works out. AMW Capture #445 Terry Pelletier stayed on the for over 14 years from murder charges and by the time he turned himself in,enough time had passed to where one of the key witnesses against him was no longer alive and other evidence had gone missing. Thus he went from facing death/life sentence to a plea deal where he only had to do two years of house arrest and seven years of probation. Running the clock out worked for him. Let's hope in this case the former happens and not the latter.
