Paul Winklebleck is a name very familiar to longtime AMW viewers. On then night of March 4th, 2010, he convinced two young girls that had attended a Snoop Dogg concert that he was a spotter for the Portland, Oregon police department, and offered to give them a ride home so they wouldn't get in trouble for drinking. Of course it turned out Winklebleck kidnapped the girls and seemingly had plans to rape them- and perhaps worse. But the girls fought back and managed to escape. John Walsh named Winklebleck has #8 most wanted fugitive of 2010, and Winklebleck was aired twice more on Lifetime last year- with one of them being an update on Ashley and Jessica- both seemingly happy and life and taking self-defense classes. But both will never forget this creep and would like to see him caught for full closure. There's a new article out about Winklebleck, it doesn't offer any new clues but mentions this past Sunday was the three-year anniversary of Winklebleck's alleged night of terror which is why I'm posting about him. A lot of us on the old forum were baffled because Winklebleck looks exactly like Larry The Cable Guy and still somehow hasn't been caught. But I have a few theories as I really don't find Winklebleck all that intelligent: A) Like Jason Brown, he may be so common he doesn't stand out. Believe it or not, I've seen a ton of guys who look like the Larry The Cable Guy, Winklebleck among them. It's kind of a common country and/or southern look even though he's from the Northwest. B) He's in Canada. He's close enough to the border and for some reason direct captures in Canada don't seem as easy and/or common as they used to be. C) He's a trucker, and therefore because he moves around he's hard to spot. I don't know what he worked has, but he at least has the look of a trucker. With all joking aside about his Larry The Cable guy looks, he is scary as far as potential for re-offense. I don't see him stopping being a predator and he needs to be caught soon. It's scary when you think he allowed Ashley and Jessica to take a picture of him before he was about to sexually assault them. Why would you let someone take your picture if you were planning on letting them go. He needs to be caught, and when he is, I hope part of the sentence is the judge allowing Ashley and Jessica to use their newfound self-defense to beat the crap out of this lowlife. www.albanytribune.com/04032013-fugitive-paul-winklebleck-still-wanted-three-years-after-kidnapping-two-portland-women%E2%80%8F/www.amw.com/fugitives/case.cfm?id=71863

This is interesting. I discovered that Bill Warner, the same Private Investigator who was hired by Sarah and Amina's aunt to help track down Yaser Said, has a theory that there may be a connection between Paul Winklebleck and some high-profile cases of missing young adult women, including Lauren Spierer, Kelli Bordeaux, and Holly Bobo. All three girls were profiled on AMW. Winklebleck's M.O. according to Warner, and we have seen proof of this with Ashley and Jessica at least, is travelling at night in his vehicles, picking up young women who had been drinking at bars, parties, or music venues. Many of the women are small petite blondes and fit into the time frame from Winklebleck's last known attack. Perhaps the one case that would really make one wonder is Holly Bobo based on the FBI description of who she was last seen with: “Holly Lynn Bobo, who is 5′ 3″ tall and weighs 110 pounds, was last seen early on the morning of April 13, 2011, outside of her home in Darden, Tennessee. She was seen being led away from the carport of her home toward a wooded area by a man described as approximately 5’8″ to 6’0″ tall and 200 pounds, wearing camouflage clothing”. pibillwarner.wordpress.com/2012/11/11/modus-operandi-of-wanted-sex-offender-paul-winklebleck-fits-missing-kelli-bordeaux-lauren-spierer-paige-johnson-and-holly-bobo-cases/Does anyone think he may be onto something?

It does warrant a close examination. I have two points to make though. 1: Winklebleck is wanted out of Oregon and his vehicle was found near the Montana/Wyoming border. The three missing women you mentioned vanished in Indiana, Tennessee and North Carolina between 2011 and 2012. How would a fugitive like Winklebleck be able to travel across the Eastern US and commit more abductions without being detected? 2: I need to research the three disappearances over the weekend and see what the likely reasons for them going missing would be. I briefly looked up Lauren Spierer and one of the last people to see her claims to have amnesia. Make of that what you will. But I will keep researching them.

I'm not entirely sold, but it is worth looking into. As for how he wouldn't be detected I have no idea, but fugitives who tend to not stay in one place seem to be a bit harder to keep track of than those that stay in one place. I never heard anything before about the girls being intoxicated as Warner seems to hint at but then again I never looked deeper into the cases. This does also make me think about the Morgan Harrington case since I do know from her story she was intoxicated and left a Metallica concert when she disappeared (as we know, Ashley and Jessica were leaving a Snoop Dogg concert). But there's nothing to suggest Winklebleck was in the Beltway-area during 2009, just months before he attacked Ashley and Jessica all the way over in Oregon. (Not to mention, the person of interest sketch is of a black male) .

Well that makes me a little less intrigued by this theory, lol. But still, as I said, it's worth checking out. And there's nothing to say unfortunately Winklebleck may try again or may have already tried again.

Something I was wondering about recently was why Winklebleck's truck was found all the way in Montana? I checked online and found out it was found in a rural area on Interstate 90. If Winklebleck drove the truck all the way there, then why did he ditch it and if so how could he have found a mode of transportation. Did he steal another car, did he hitchhike? It's also possible that he could have had an accomplice drive the truck to Montana while he traveled elsewhere. www.kpax.com/news/americas-most-wanted-suspect-in-montana/#_

I'm not sure how he got to Portland from Montana without a vehicle. As you stated perhaps he had another vehicle or stole another vehicle. I don't feel like he had an accomplice since he planned that attack on Ashley and Jessica by himself and attacked them by himself. One more thing I find weird. A Tennessee bounty hunter site lists him as a fugitive. I don't know why... tribune-democrat.com/local/x1938691709/Reward-offered-in-search

Interesting to see if this is actually Winklebleck. If this is then someone must have stolen his truck and drove it all the way to the Wyoming/Montana border.

They released the body to the family- that's proof enough for me.

It is also rather weird that Winklebleck's possible cause of death was drowning just like Kevin Stoeser's possible cause.

Winklebleck is now the fourth member of John Walsh's 10 Most Wanted of 2010 to go down. Meade was first, followed by Sam, then Ceja, and now Winklebleck.
He's also the first member of the list to be found dead since Bobby Kumar.

I should add a death certificate was also issued. That is also "good enough" and rather official- regardless of when investigators with all due respect of course - want to confirm anything. But yes the once seemingly uncatchable 2010 list is slowly but surely getting better!
