From whky.com:
The driver of the motorcycle involved in an incident on September 8 has been identified by Hickory Police. He is 24-year-old Chanceler Timothy Johnson. Investigators have obtained warrants for his arrest.
38-year-old Cynthia Nicole Lail and her son, 12-year-old Michael Lail, both of Hickory, were killed as the result of a collision that occurred as Hickory Police pursued the motorcycle driven by Johnson. The accident occurred at approximately 11 p.m. on September 8 at the intersection of U.S. Highway 70 and 13th Street S.W. in Hickory. Ms. Lail died at the scene and her son passed away two days later.
Johnson has been charged with two counts of felony eluding arrest with a motor vehicle causing death. Investigators believe Johnson may be traveling in a silver Hyundai Sonata with license plate number KER-1082. He may be in the company of 21-year-old Cheyene Faith Raines.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Johnson or Raines should call the Hickory Police Department at 828-328-5551.

Thoughts? As of today's posting date (September 18th, 2023), there is still a posting on the Hickory Police Department's Facebook page asking for information on Johnson's whereabouts that is yet to be edited or updated with any news of a capture. Articles do not seem to post photos of Raines so while I'm sure there may be unofficial ones I do not feel comfortable posting them since they have not been released by police and as far as I know she has not been charged with a crime.
Also there is an apparently controversy on social media at least over whether the officer should have continued pursuing Johnson in the first place. As much as you want to catch the bad guy, often police will have no choice but to let the person they're chasing get away in a high-speed chase in order to not endanger the public. I've read additional articles that the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave pending further investigation. I can say while this website chases bad guys as well, we are not above criticizing the police if we feel something egregious happened. However, the matter is being investigated, so I personally do not want to comment until that is over and all the facts are in.
