I was looking up some old AMW cases recently and I discovered that, back in December 2020, a suspect was arrested in the murders of the Wideman family. In March 2002, a fire was reported at the Wideman family home in Rebecca, Georgia. Firefighters found the bodies of Thomas and Deborah Wideman and their 20-year-old daughter Melissa Wideman, who was 8.5 months pregnant. The suspect, Jason Michael Walker, was the father of Melissa Wideman's baby, according to investigators.
The murders of the Wideman family were profiled on AMW in March 2003, a year after the crime. The late Ray Farkas produced the piece, which had no narration and simply featured b-roll of the town along with interviews with various people. Ironically, one of the people Ray talked to was Walker himself, who was seen as a possible suspect back them. He denied he was the killer when talking to Ray. The detective also said they had no evidence to say it was Walker. It wouldn't be the first time AMW talked to someone who ended up being charged in the case they were interviewed about, but it's still eerie.
