Although not entirely the same reminds me of when David Kemp turned himself in because he was sick and needed medical care.

Apparently this story is more complicated than it appears on the surface- it seems Desic escaped jail because he was afraid of going back to war-torn Yugoslavia. Now Yugoslavia doesn't exist anymore and it's a question of how and where exactly he will be deported after he serves his two month time in Australia for escape. I personally would have to see what exactly his original crimes or alleged crimes were, as if they were just like minor felonies or whatever I say he's not a danger to society and just let him be and let him continue to live in Australia.
