John Barrett Hawkins was AMW direct capture #163. He allegedly had a man killed as part of an elaborate plan to collect his insurance money. Thanks to AMW tips, he was arrested in Italy. In a new article, Hawkins, now released, claims he didn't know his partner was going to kill his victim and is now counseling troubled youths. It's an interesting article and is now yet another case in the dilemma of whether people convicted in a crime where another human being dies deserve a second chance at life. There's been a lot of documented cases such as this of someone convicted in a killing, getting paroled, and actually doing good, charitable work in their post-prison life. Many people praise such as turning their life around. Others say the victims didn't get a second chance at life, so why should the convict? (Curious to hear other people's thoughts on that even though this article is about Hawkins.) In any case, I'm glad Hawkins seems to at least call the crime senseless and appears to be trying to do good out of prison. losangeles.cbslocal.com/2014/11/03/released-from-prison-after-20-years-local-man-finds-calling-in-counseling-troubled-teens/
