(Above: Left: Alison Gracey; Right: Christopher Jones. Photo Credits: AMW preview on Fox) Alison Gracey and Christopher Jones are scheduled to air as the lead case on this Monday's episode of the new America's Most Wanted on Fox. According to online research, Gracey and Jones are wanted for the 2011 manslaughter death of a novice 36-year-old scuba diver named Aimee Rhoads in Key Largo, Florida. Gracey and Jones were running diving trips from the “Get Wet” commercial dive charter boat. Rhoads, from Washington state, was visiting Florida on a scuba-diving holiday. Somehow the boat began taking on water during the trip and became capsized. Rhoads and others on the boat were trapped in a cabin. Another diver was critically injured but recovered in hospital. Four other tourists, along with the captain and a crew member, survived. Local reports say the boat sank in just under two minutes. An indictment, unsealed by the office of the US attorney in Florida, said: “The alleged unlawful and careless manner in which the defendants operated the boat caused the death of an individual scuba divers. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/jun/24/britons-arrested-in-caribbean-over-tourist-aimee-rhoadss-diving-deathGracey and Jones, from the UK, apparently fled to the Caribbean Island of Saint Marteen but in 2015 were arrested by Dutch police. That should have been the end of the manhunt. However, I found a blog from Aimee Rhoads' husband explaining what wrong, here is an excerpt: "First, the good news. The US petitioned for extradition of Jones and Gracey so they could face charges related to Aimee's death (for those who don't recall, these two are British nationals, not US citizens). The Dutch court in St. Maarten arrested them, seized their passports, and released them on bond based on their lawyer's assurance that they were not a flight risk. Then this past September, the courts finally got around to ruling on extradition, and denied Jones' and Gracey's appeal to block extradition. This, in turn, cleared the way for them to be arrested and returned to the US. Great news, right?" As it turns out, Jones and Gracey, whose passports had been seized, actually WERE a flight risk. Since the Dutch had taken their passports, they simply applied to Britain for new ones. The Brits granted them, and by the time the Dutch authorities came to arrest them to extradite them back to the US, Jones and Gracey had fled St. Maarten. According to the Attorney General's office in Florida, they appear to have moved to France. Now we will need to start over, petitioning France to extradite them and waiting for that process to run its course all over again." missingaimee.blogspot.com/2016/12/breaking-news-and-its-not-good.html?m=1Thoughts? Even though I couldn't find Gracey and Jones in Florida warrants search, it would seem they are obviously still at large as of today's posting date (March 25th, 2020) since they are being aired on the upcoming March 29th, 2021 episode of America's Most Wanted on Fox. There were no photos online so I had to do screen grabs off my DVR preview from this past Monday's episode. It does seem this may be the new AMW 2.0's version of Ira Einhorn, where the fugitive or fugitives in this case aren't exactly in hiding but there needs to be national and international publicity to pressure French authorities to extradite the couple back to the U.S. Hopefully this Monday's episode helps to put the pressure on. AMW 2.0's FB page is reporting that Alison and Christopher were arrested in Madrid, Spain four days after their airing! This is most likely a direct capture but we don't have any news articles to confirm that as of yet. We'll have to wait until the season finale next Monday for more information. But this is obviously wonderful news! www.facebook.com/MostWantedonFOX

This is obviously great news! Seeing the season finale is Monday, we'll see if they update which will be weird since they took two weeks to announce Phillip Dent as "#1187" (aka 1205)
Also, I know I'm the guy always lecturing people to never be negative when fugitives get captured, just be happy they're caught, even if it's not a direct result it's great they're caught, just a direct result is even sweeter etc.. but I did feel the need to address two things:
1. I am very happy these two were caught as in our general AMW viewers- I felt this was the most well-done case as far as making an emotional connection with the audience. However, I am cautiously optimistic because these two have been caught TWICE already and still managed to go on the run again thanks to the backwards extradition process. This wasn't going to be as hard a capture as it seemed in locating them, and it will be finally sending them back that will be the huge step. Hopefully the publicity from AMW will pressure Spain a bit more, and Spain did send back Chris Ponce when he was caught after The Hunt with John Walsh.
2. I don't understand why we're bashing "ratings people." Once again, not to sound condescending in my explanation but "ratings" are not reviews of the show- most of the reviews for the new AMW have been generally positive. No one is saying "the new show sucks" in the media. Ratings are the amount of people who watched the show, and AMW has been consistently coming in fourth place among the big four seven-day prime time networks with terrible 18-49 demographic ratings.
No one is saying the show sucks. I've enjoyed it overall even though it has some flaws that can be improved with more experience. It's that people aren't watching like they used to.
Some, including myself, have argued that AMW is a public service show and it shouldn't be about ratings.
So Fox will have a difficult decision on their hands. I'm not saying this to be mean but if this were ANY OTHER show but AMW it would not be renewed for a second season based on the Nielsen ratings this seasojn. This is a fact, it's not a bashing or anything. It's unfortunately how the real world works, AMW could capture Jason Brown Robert Fisher and Alexis Flores in a week but if not enough people are watching for the advertising/money aspect it unfortunately possibly wouldn't matter... this is a capitalist country whether we like it or not.
However, others and myself are hoping Fox will see the good AMW has done in its' return and give it a second chance, more specifically move it to a night with less competition, and preferably the weekend just like old times, where it has a better chance of increasing ratings.
I'm hoping it's the latter, but we shall see.

The victim's husband, while happy at this news, isn't going to celebrate until they're back on American soil and I don't blame him given what has gone on in this case. What gets me is reading the maximum punishment these two could get was eight years for Gracey and ten years for Jones. If they had just faced the music, it's very possible they could have done their time and been out by now. But they didn't want to do that. Instead they ran like cowards and have kept on running. That's over now. As Scumhunter mentioned, Spain has sent other AMW bad guys back so they are likely to do so here. Hopefully they'll be back on American soil soon and will get the maximum the law allows. They'll still have a life to look forward too after they do their time, Aimee Rhodes won't.

Turns out he posted about the capture days before it was officially announced, an even stronger indication AMW will take credit on Monday night since they also waited a bit to claim Philip Dent.

I wonder if the system is like the old AMW where the executive producer makes the final call on the captures. If it is, I hope they've revamped it to resolve some of the issues they had in later years where it seemed like the theory was if the police had to do extra work, it wasn't a direct capture, even if the only reason the police had leads on where a perp went was because of AMW viewers.

And yeah I forgot to mention that. Usually when I see a fugitive is caught in Mexico, despite a few snafus, for the most part they've been a lot better at sending fugitives back and so I generally won't rain on the parade. But when it's a fugitive(s) caught in the same continent where they keep getting released from, of course I'm happy, but I'm a little more cautiously optimistic than usual.

I would say in this case given their history one can hope that Spain keeps them locked and that they are flagged via Interpol in case they aren't.

According to a source of mine. Gracey and Jones will be in court in Madrid on September 7th for an extradition hearing. I unfortunately don't have anything to verify this, but we can monitor the Missing Aimee blog. If true, let's hope they're actually sent back this time.
