From the Asbury Park Press:
BRICK - Authorities are searching for a 48-year-old Brick woman accused of bludgeoning her wife to death with a wine container in the apartment the pair shared.
Mayra Gavilanez-Alectus has been charged with murder and weapons offenses in connection with the death of 32-year-old Rebecca Gavilanez-Alectus, who was found slain inside in an apartment in the Millbrook Manor complex Sunday, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Brick Police Chief James Riccio said in a joint news release Tuesday.
Mayra Gavilanez-Alectus is suspected of fleeing the apartment after the killing and is now a fugitive, said Bryan Huntenburg, a spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
Huntenburg said authorities have confirmed the victim and suspect lived together and said "it is our understanding" that they were married.
Brick police were called to the apartment, located on Creek Road, around noon Sunday and found Rebecca Gavilanez-Alectus' body in an upstairs bedroom, according to the news release.
Investigators swarmed the scene of what was initially called a "suspicious death," snapping photos and inspecting one unit within the complex.
Investigators found that "a cylindrical container used for the purpose of chilling wine was utilized in the commission of the murder" and the victim's injuries "were consistent with the implementation of this item," according to the news release.
The Ocean County Medical Examiner performed an autopsy Monday and ruled the manner of death to be a homicide, authorities said.
"Further investigation ultimately determined that Mayra Gavilanez-Alectus did, in fact, cause the victim’s death" and a warrant was issued for her arrest, the news release said. Authorities did not reveal how they reached that conclusion.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Brick Police Department Detective Bureau and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit were involved in the investigation.
Billhimer and Riccio also credited the FBI, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Marshals Service for their help in the probe.
“Great teamwork by all of the respective law enforcement agencies and officers involved in this investigation," Billhimer said in a statement. "Our focus now is to find Mayra Gavilanez-Alectus and bring her into custody."
Authorities ask anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Mayra Gavilanez-Alectus to contact Detective Ken Steinberg of the Brick Township Police Department at 732-262-1113 or Detective John Carroll of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit at 732-929-4760, ext. 3964.

Thoughts? Based on local news reports, Gavilanez-Alectus was still-at-large at least as of the day prior to this posting date (May 19th, 2020).
This is unfortunately probably the most brutal homicide fugitive case I've seen so far this year on this forum, and if Mayra can allegedly do this to her own wife, she can be violent to anyone and really needs to be caught.
