One man was in custody at an area hospital and another man was wanted on homicide and other charges in connection with a shooting that led to a crash Sunday night on Route 30 in North Versailles, according to Allegheny County police.
Tyrone “Louie Deng” Freeman, 24, of Homestead, was being treated for his injuries at Forbes Regional Hospital before being taken to Allegheny County Jail, according to criminal complaints filed in the case.
Police say Erik “Eskii” DeSean Addison, 23, of Brookline, fled from the crash. He is black, about 6’4” tall and weighs about 260 pounds, according to police.
If anyone comes into contact with Addison, they should call 911 immediately, police said.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the gunshot victim as Richard Nathaniel Littlejohn Jr. of Pittsburgh. He was pronounced dead by paramedics at 7:42 p.m. Sunday on Route 30, according to criminal complaints filed in the case.
Littlejohn was shot while driving a car after leaving a gender-reveal baby shower in North Versailles, according to criminal complaints.
Littlejohn’s male cousin was in the front passenger seat and two children, ages 10 and 1, were in the back seat of the car, the complaints said.
Littlejohn’s cousin told police they were headed from the party to East Pittsburgh when he heard several gunshots, glass breaking and the car crashed, according to the complaints.
Police said a witness told them Freeman and Addison were in another car watching guests leave the party. When they saw Littlejohn leave, the witness said, the men followed in another car.
When both cars reached Route 30, the witness told police they saw Addison shoot a handgun at Littlejohn’s car. That car then crashed into the car carrying Addison and Freeman and an SUV.
A second witness, who came upon the accident scene, told police he saw Addison toss away an object that police said was the handgun used in the shooting. Police said they recovered the gun. It had been reported stolen on Oct. 21 from North Huntingdon, according to criminal complaints.
Police said the car in which Addison and Freeman were riding was rented by Addison’s girlfriend, who reported it stolen at Addison’s request. She has not been charged in the case.
The SUV was occupied by two women, two 2-year-olds and a newborn girl.
A total of 10 people were taken to hospitals. Their names and conditions haven’t been released.
Route 30 was shut down overnight while police investigated and reopened just before the start of the morning commute.
Freeman is charged with conspiracy, homicide, three counts of aggravated assault, three counts of reckless endangerment and a firearms violation, complaints showed.
Addison faces charges of homicide, three counts of aggravated assault, three counts of reckless endangerment, two firearms violations and receiving stolen property.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or can provide investigators with additional information is asked to call the Allegheny County Police Tip Line at 1-833-255-8477. Callers can remain anonymous.
Thoughts? Based on local news reports, Addison was still at large at least as of today's posting date (October 28th, 2019). Not that it makes any better for Richard Littlejohn's loved ones, but it's a miracle no one else was killed as a result of Addison's (and Freeman's) alleged reckless actions, including the 2-year-olds and newborn girl. Still, 10 people did wind up in the hospital. A man this allegedly reckless and dangerous needs to be caught immediately.
