I wasn't sure exactly where to put this, but I thought it would be nice to have a "hub" where we could discuss AMW segments that are uploaded to Vimeo. Unlike sites like YouTube, Vimeo is a bit more professional. Several AMW producers (Sedg Tourison, Karen Daborowski) have uploaded some of their segments to Vimeo. I thought I'd share the links to some of them.
Behind the Scenes: Anthony Carter - In June 2002, AMW decided to take a behind the scenes look at how their reenactments are made. The fugitive in question was Anthony Carter, an accused murderer who escaped from two different jails. Carter allegedly killed a homeless man because the victim sold Carter's guitar. Carter's full segment aired during the next act of the show, and AMW obviously did something right because Carter was captured the very next day after a viewer recognized him walking through Iowa City. As a side note, Carter's reenactment is one of the most recycled in AMW history. I can think of several other jail/prison escapees that AMW has used this reenactment for (among them, the Madera escapees and Henry Corral).
Joyce Chiang - One uploader compiled all the times Joyce Chiang's case was profiled on AMW and put them all on Vimeo. I'm wondering if this is someone who is related to Joyce, because I don't know why this person would have all of her profiles in one place.
January 23, 1999 - I believe this was the only time AMW profiled Joyce Chiang as a missing person. This segment features an interview with future AMW staff member, and Joyce's brother, Roger Chiang.
July 14, 2001 - After Chandra Levy went missing, AMW aired Joyce's case again as a possibly connected crime. While we later learned that the murders of Joyce and Chandra Levy (as well as that of Christine Mirzayan) were unrelated, at the time it was considered a least a small possibility they might be. Of the three, only Christine Mirzayan's murder remains unsolved.
May 25, 2002 - Joyce's case is briefly mentioned following the discovery of Chandra Levy's body. Note that the date on this profile is wrong - it says it aired in 2008, but as someone who has seen this episode, I can tell you this was definitely in 2002.
June 1, 2002 - Once again, Joyce's case is briefly mentioned during the full profile of Chandra Levy's murder. Only her photo is shown in this feature, but the old amw.com considered this a profile. Also, if the set looks familiar, this and Anthony Carter's profiles were featured on the same episode.
John Turchin Hosting Reel - This is a personal favorite of mind. Former AMW producer Cindy Smith edited together several clips of correspondent John Turchin working on AMW (and one clip of him as a news reporter). Most of these clips are clearly from when he first started working at AMW, where he apparently was the APB correspondent and based in DC. However, I can tell you what some of these clips are. Clip #3 is the capture report of Derrick Lee. Clip #6 is from AMW's 600th capture special edition, and features Cindy Smith about to describe the case she wants solved the most. Something tells me it's Brad Bishop (if you see the clip, you'll understand how I came to that conclusion). Clip #7 is the unknown Judith Smith Killer, a case I believe is still unsolved. AMW featured it in 1999. #8 is from when AMW did their infamous "roundtable" format (which most of us feel was a really poorly-executed concept). The case being discussed is the Palm Beach County Serial Rapist. Clip #10 is from the Rafael Andres reenactment, and Clip #11 I'm pretty sure is Roger McCray.
Stephen Anderson - One of the first fugitives I ever saw profiled on AMW, Stephen Anderson was an anti-government activist wanted for shooting a deputy that tried to pull him over for having broken tail lights. He was profiled three times on AMW before he was finally captured in North Carolina. Watching this segment, it should be clear why this guy was the first fugitive I ever put on my most wanted list (the second was TJ Weber; although he was actually profiled before Anderson, Weber's return to the crime scene to finish was what made me add him). I should put a warning that some of Anderson's racist and anti-Semitic rants are a little disturbing. Note that this was also one of the last interviews Sheriff Sam Catron gave before he was murdered. Police initially thought Anderson orchestrated the murder, but it turns out he had nothing to do with it.
That's all I'm posting for now, but if you get the chance, you should really check out some of these Vimeo clips. There's actually some really fascinating segments on here.
