(Above photo credit: Kansas City, Missouri government website) From the Kansas City Missouri Cold Case Homicides website: "On January 14, 1994, at about 12:30 p.m., utility workers discovered the body of Kimberly Cowhick, in a field thick with brush and weeds in an area south of N. 72nd and North Brighton. It was determined by the Medical Examiner that the victim’s body could have been in the field for some time and that she had died of a gunshot wound. Ms. Cowhick was last seen alive November 28, 1993, by her boyfriend when she left a motel near Independence Avenue and Paseo to walk to a nearby store. She never returned. The victim was a known prostitute who frequented the areas of 18th and Main and Independence Avenue, and her murder might have been in connection to prostitution. If Kimberly's murder was connected to her work at a prostitute, then chances are her killer would have committed other violent acts against other prostitutes. I'm not certain from the case description if there was any forensic evidence to work with, but since her body was left in the elements for a month and a half, it's possible there isn't any evidence like that to use.
