From daily-chronicle.com:
ROCKFORD – Police are seeking one of two men who fled police Saturday, one of whom allegedly shot and wounded a Winnebago County Sheriff's deputy.
About 1:30 a.m. Saturday, deputies tried to stop a fleeing vehicle on Springfield Avenue southwest of downtown Rockford, according to a news release from the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office. It says the vehicle stopped near Prairie Road and while fleeing on foot, the driver, Jordan D. Spates, 27, of Rockford, fired several shots at a deputy and hit him.
The deputy was awaiting surgery on Wednesday but his injuries were not life-threatening, according to the release.
A manhunt involving many Rockford-area police agencies led to the arrest of Jarrion J. Moore, 21, of Rockford, in the 1000 block of South Court Street. Moore is charged with possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, typically punishable by four to 15 years in prison, as well as resisting arrest.
Spates is still at large, and a warrant was issued for his arrest for aggravated battery to a police officer with a firearm, typically punishable by six to 30 years in prison.
Anyone with information on Spates’ whereabouts should call the Winnebago Sheriff’s Office at 815-282-2600, or Crime Stoppers at 815-963-7867. Spates should be considered armed and dangerous.
