I think I saw an article mentioning El Salvador as a possibility for Castillo along with Mexico and the state of Arizona.
I don't really know what to predict as to how long Mederos will list just that in theory even if caught tomorrow he should still last longer in Castillo who is younger and more recent.

And yeah this is actually my fault we got a little off-topic since I brought it up first so we can discuss Mederos again lol.

Here's the thing: The FBI is pretty certain he's in Mexico. The poster they had before his Ten Most Wanted spot offered a reward for his "extradition." He's definitely a clear danger to the public, but in adding him, I think the FBI was trying to flush more tips out of Mexico.

Welcome to the forum maddog34, and yes I am certain as well Santiago Mederos is in Mexico too. His addition was was a huge priority due to his violent history and adding him is what was best in order to number his days, just a few days ago they arrested Jesus Munguia in Mexico. If they can get him they can also get Mederos and Fellow Top Ten Fugitive Alejandro Castillo.

Hi maddog, welcome to the forum and thank you for this and your other postings so far! I agree this is the most likely reason. After they caught Brenda Delgado, it was revealed they pretty much knew exactly where she was anyway, and it was just to put additional pressure on, for example.

Yep. They knew Delgado was in Mexico, but the Mexican Government wasn't taking it seriously. With Mederos, however, he is not a Mexican Citizen: they would just have to deport him.

Here’s a detailed press release relating to Mederos’s crime and his addition to the FBI Ten Most Wanted by the Pierce County, Washington site, which is where Mederos is wanted out of. www.co.pierce.wa.us/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=3484

Does anyone know if Mederos’ gang is allied with MS-13? I ask because if they are, they could be providing a LOT of shelter for him, and that makes El Salvador a possible destination.

They are allies with MS-13, it’s a possibility, but then again, Mederos would have likely ended up joining a drug cartel perhaps with the CJNG or with the Beltrán Leyva Cartel.
However Mederos is likely living a quiet life in Mexico, based on the amount of time he’s been on the FBI Top Ten, but currently he hasn’t been on the list as long as Luis Macedo.
I feel that locating Mederos isn’t that difficult, just like locating Macedo wasn’t that difficult, plus they seem to have 2 Mexican states in particular that they believe he’s in.

Just for reference purposes, wanted to add the link to Mederos Red Notice wanted poster on Interpol's website. Based on url, it seems to have been issued in 2011. Sanchez and Mendez's Interpol Red Notices were also issued in 2011. www.interpol.int/notice/search/wanted/2011-2120

You know, I wouldn’t be surprised if an age-enhanced photo comes out soon. This is due to Mederos’ age at the time the last known photo was taken, and that it is now a nearly ten year old photo.

I was aware of Jesus Mederos (ironically I was about to say Munguia), however I think his capture would play a pivotal role in Santiago’s capture. Now In theory if everything investigation wise goes according to plan, Mederos is the next to go down. Which would mean the FBI could add 2 cold cases instead of a recent.
