HUNTINGTON — A malicious wounding charge against a Huntington man wanted in a Saturday double shooting in Huntington has been upgraded to murder after a victim died.
Huntington Police Chief Joe Ciccarelli confirmed Sunday that Aaron William Black, 20, of Huntington, died Sunday as a result of gunshot wounds suffered in a Saturday morning shooting on Williams Avenue in Huntington.
Warrants had been filed against Quenton Avery Sheffield, 24, for two counts of malicious wounding Saturday, but one has since been upgraded to murder after Black’s death.
The second victim, Sydney Rice, 21, of Huntington, remains in stable condition following surgery after the shooting.
Ciccarelli has not disclosed a motive in the shooting, but said drugs were found inside the home where the shooting occurred and the victims and shooter were acquainted.
Sheffield has previously spent time in prison for similar crimes.
In 2012, he received a three- to 15-year prison sentence. He had entered a Kennedy plea to attempted first-degree murder and attempt to commit a felony for his role in both a pizza robbery and shooting months later.
The robbery involved a Papa John’s Pizza delivery woman April 9, 2011, along Charleston Avenue. The shooting happened Aug. 13, 2011, at 17th Street and Artisan Avenue, seriously injuring a different woman.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Sheffield is urged to call the Huntington Police Department's anonymous drug and crime tip line at 304-696-4444 or call 911.
A fund has been established for Black at gofundme.com/4dkck6g.

Thoughts? This Sheffield has a history of violence and no motive justifies the crimes he allegedly committed. He needs to be taken off the streets now before anyone else could get hurt.
