It is possible. You'd think otherwise and I'm sorry as I should cite examples but my mind is blanking at the moment but for some reason AMW always seemed to have trouble catching fugitives who were possibly dressing as a woman. Like they're either still at large or it took years to find them. John Gentry is one example - the most credible tips indicate he’s dressing as a woman to evade capture. |

America's Most Wanted didn't always fail to bust fugitives who were, or supposedly, disguising themselves as women. That was the disguise the 15 Seconds Of Shame profile named for Augusto C Rodriguez, whom AMW quickly busted as Capture #971.

Bumping this up (it's been over a year since this thread was updated), but today is the 15th anniversary. Let's hope that King will be arrested by this time next year!

Question: have there been any solid leads on King since he went on the run over 15 years ago? I am starting to wonder if death is a possibility. The more I think about it, he would likely have a hard time concealing himself as a woman, as he is 6’2”, and to me, it just seems he should be sticking out and should have surfaced by now.

Oh yeah I find it absolutely bizarre there seems to be little tips on him but on the other hand he seems to be an underrated case as well- he still hasn't gotten an airing on either The Hunt or In Pursuit. Then again neither has Jose Bustos-Diaz but still.
And I think it depends on where King is. If he's dressing like a woman in a backwater town in Alabama, he's going to stick out like a sore thumb. But a city like New York or San Francisco, no one's going to bat an eye. Even though I consider myself a relatively progressive guy, I do admit to being sort of ignorant and giggling whenever this was a possible lead when I was younger and watching AMW, but now it's 2021 and I've matured along with society to where we have transgender restrooms now- so who knows. He might not be paid much attention to now.
The thing is he's from Tennessee and seems like a Southern type of guy- but if he's still alive he'd blend in in like Atlanta or New Orleans quite well.
In all honesty it is a lead I think we make too much of since after all that I just have a gut instinct he is just himself and not as a woman- that's if he's still alive.

Is possible that King might have had gender reassignment surgery and now maybe transgender to disguise his identity?

Sorry missed this before, I think it is not an unreasonable thought or question but just because he allegedly likes dressing as a woman doesn't mean he actually wants to become one. (Also, I want to stress for forum readers that King is a scumbag because he's an alleged murderer- whether he's male female transgender etc.. does not concern me personally- only as far as "sleuthing"- we only discuss this aspect since it is about clues and quirks which could in theory help catch him. No one's ever been offended- but I like to stress things in advance anyway just in case).

Perhaps. He doesn't seem like that hard a capture and seemed to have a temper where like Michael Baltimore he would have gotten into another rage incident and exposed himself by now. Absolutely wouldn't be shocked if he's dead. Also find it telling The Hunt and In Pursuit have never profiled him. |

I'm leaning more and more towards King being dead based on the relative lack of publicity. One of the weirder listings on his original AMW profile was they sort of accused him of being a self-hating black man. I am wondering if they removed it because they got flack for saying it or if it was really determined to be inaccurate. I can understand either way, it is a sensitive subject even if it is a potential clue, just it could be a potential clue.

I think at a bare minimum, we would’ve had a very good sighting by now. The NAMUS profile indicates to me that even investigators have their doubts he’s alive. I’m wondering if this is an Arthur Lee Washington, Jr. type of case where the tips just basically have stopped. |
