From clarionledger.com:
U.S. marshals have issued a $5,000 reward for a 31-year-old man suspected of drowning another man in a Mississippi campground lake.
On July 29, two fishermen discovered the body of Samuel Smith, 20, of Texas, in Chewalla Lake in Holly Springs. The lake is part of a National Forest campground.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Joshua Fletcher of Louisiana.
According to Maj. Kelly McMillen with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, Smith, Fletcher and Smith's dog were seen at the campground in the early morning hours of July 26.
McMillen said Fletcher drowned Smith in the lake shortly after they arrived at the campground.
The two were acquaintances who were traveling after working odd jobs.
A motive is unknown.
Fletcher was last seen on video surveillance driving Smith's truck. The truck is described as a silver Chevrolet S-10 with a white driver's side door. It has a temporary Texas tag taped in the back window.
A .30-30 rifle was in the truck at the time it was stolen. Smith's dog has since been found.
Fletcher is considered dangerous with "violent tendencies," according to the U.S. Marshals Service. He is 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighs approximately 170 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. He could possibly have shaved his head.
Fletcher is on probation from Louisiana for a methamphetamine-related charge, McMillen said.
The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a reward for any information regarding Fletcher's whereabouts.
U.S. Marshal Dennis Erby for the Northern District of Mississippi said, “We will exhaust every investigative tool our agency has to find Fletcher. Our job is to assist our local partners in bringing violent fugitives to justice.”
The U.S. Marshals Service is working with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department on the investigation.
Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson said his office "is committed to seeing this investigation through until it ends."
"We will continue to work with other jurisdictions and federal investigators until justice is served and the victim’s family has a feeling of closure," Dickerson said. "For anyone to deprive such a young person of a full life is beyond despicable, and we are going to use any and all resources necessary to see that Fletcher is prosecuted to the fullest.”
Anyone with information relating to Fletcher is asked to contact the U.S. Marshals Service Communications Center at 1 800-336-0102 or email: usms.wanted@usdoj.gov.
