I do stress however they need to make sure to find a way to keep himin jail this time. Once again, how did I know this was going to happen? *sigh*. Seems even if he's caught, he'll just escape again, and if they shoot and kill him, many will claim it's not true and a hoax. Would like to see him captured and then I'll just try to remain cautiously optimistic for as long as he's alive.

P.S. I believe Guzman is the first member of a yearly John Walsh top 10 list to escape prison after a capture. (Stephen Tatro's top 10 of 2000 airing was his second and final capture)

I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't pay off a guard to inform him of the location of the escape route. From what I heard on GMA this morning, security cameras last showed him entering a shower room, and it's believed he may have escaped through a tunnel behind a shower. However, he may have been familiar with tunnels behind showers anyway, as one of his safe houses supposedly had one.
What a setback for fugitive hunting on the eve of a step forward with the premiere of season 2 of The Hunt. I hate to be a "downer," but even having Yaser Said, Dan Hiers, and Robert Fisher (or essentially all of the fugitives I can think of ever profiled on AMW with the possible exception of Ayman Al-Zawahiri) all behind bars will fall short of compensating for Guzman being on the loose again. If someone's going to escape from a maximum-security prison, it's going to be him, so while I rarely wish death upon even the worst of criminals I wouldn't be terribly dismayed to see him killed by authorities just to prevent him from going to jail and breaking out again.

This is exactly why the U.S. wanted El Chapo extradited to them yesterday.
What makes matters worse is all the people celebrating like Nelson Mandela just got out of prison. Look, I'm not the biggest fan of the War on Drugs either. But just because it's turning into an unpopular war doesn't mean guys like El Chapo, Ismael Zambada-Garcia, Eduardo Ravelo, etc. don't deserve punishment for the countless mass murders allegedly committed as a result of their respective cartels. This is a bad dude.
While I always stress this isn't a vigilante forum, if he's captured again, we'll never be secure he won't escape again. The only way I see this case ever ending is if El Chapo is killed. Even then, there will always be rumors that he really wasn't.

One of you mentioned how the United States' International Agents wanted Guzman-Loera extradited to the US. I was also thinking, another deadly prison escapee on one of AMW's Top Ten lists, Richard Lee McNair, was sent to a supermax prison. During his capture report in the autumn of '007, the correspondent said that if anyone may ever escape from that supermax, it might be Richard Lee McNair. I wonder something. If El Chapo were sent to that same prison, would he be even harder to contain than McNair?

One would think the U.S. has slightly better odds of keeping Guzman in a high-security prison. However, agreed, between the two of them, he'd be more likely to escape than McNair.

Question- the U.S. is pissed off at Mexico (that might be an understatement) over this. Does anyone have a fear this might effect fugitive extraditions in the future?
On one hand, you'd think when the U.S. asks Mexico for someone and they go "hey Mexico, remember what happened last time you stonewalled?" they'd be a little annoyed we reminded them but would have to begrudgingly admit we have a point and *maybe* listen to us and try to speed up sending someone back here.
But on the other hand, relations could become so bitter over Guzman's escape that we start to not really communicate as much.
That is another reason why it's so important Guzman is caught or killed- the longer the search goes on- the more the finger pointing- the more it has the potential to destroy U.S.-Mexico relations for future fugitives.
And we already know of a few fugitives on The Hunt this season who are *probably* hiding in Mexico.
I personally can't wait for the next AMW/Hunt related case to get captured and/or extradited back here from Mexico, so I can breathe a little easier about my worries.

Costa Rica, Sinaloa rather than Costa Rica, Central America? Therein lies my problem with naming one piece of geography after another. This also happened with Capture #392, Ronald Craig Vahue. I thought he was wanted out of Greece, Southern Europe, when he was wanted out of Greece, New York.

Yeah, there's a lot of times that happens. I'm still not sure if it's believed the Tweet came from the "other" Costa Rica or just that either location is possible but in any case there is also a third possibility that his son tweeted the picture just to throw authorities off.

El chapo will die of 1 natural causes or 2 by the next man in line wanting to fill his shoes.

Hi there. Welcome back to the forum. Not bad theories. To compare him to another drug lord- while I'm not as knowledgeable of Pablo Escobar, from what I know, his eventual downfall- in addition to the Government finally catching up to him- was also partially due the emergence of the rival Colombian group known as Los Pepes (Cali Cartel). (There are rumors they helped the U.S. and Colombian governments to catch/kill Escobar, but whether they did or not, they were a cause of Escobar's final years/months of fleeing and having nowhere to hide). So I could see option 2 happening with El Chapo. And sadly number 1 as well.
Sad all around, even if El Chapo is caught and/or killed tomorrow, there's still plenty of other ruthless guys sure to want to take his place. In the Escobar case, the drug kingpins that took his place were probably even worse than he was.
