This is fantastic news! I am surprised he was still in Texas.

Just so everyone is aware: Since he was captured in Texas, he is very much eligible for the death penalty (I'm not a big fan of it, but my guess is a lot of people won't lose a wink of sleep if he is put to death). It astonishes me that he was only 40 minutes away. I feared he was long gone over in Egypt or at best, somewhere in NY or the East Coast. What I am guessing is the FBI probably noticed some suspicious behavior with his relatives. I doubt one of his relatives tipped off the police simply because they were harboring him. The proximity also leads me to wonder if the girls' mother knew anything.
With some rare exceptions, I'm usually against the death penalty because of the potential of executing someone innocent. But in this case where even thoigh technically presumed innocent he is so obviously guilty and basically caught on tape, Said needs the needle jammed down his throat. But him rotting in jail not getting the chance to die a "martyr" which might be what he'd actually want is fine with me as well.

According to the press conference:
1) Yaser was easily identifiable (which probably meant he did not change his identity much) by the Agents. He did not speak much during his arrest.
2) It appears this arrest is the direct result of an FBI investigation. The Agent in charge made it clear the arrest was not due to a tip. They were tight-lipped on this because the investigation is still open (they are looking at who was harboring him).
3) It appears what happened was the officers looked at previously examined angles and aspects to determine that Yaser was in Justin, TX.
4) From what I can gather, the Agent said there were leads from across the country that they felt were viable where they "just missed him." It was also revealed his son and brother were not arrested at the same scene as Yaser. This leads me to believe they were funneling money or other valuables to him. The Agent in Charge made it clear they did not know how long he had been in Justin, TX.
His mugshot will likely be released tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Perhaps he was driving cabs in NYC after all and then went back and forth to Texas and all my paranoid tips weren't for nothing lol.

Maybe!
Anyone think the FBI will ever reveal how they tracked him down to Justin, TX? Or do you think they will probably withhold that?

I think they did surveillance on his family and they finally messed up. You can only hide someone for so long. But as to exactly how they might not reveal for investigative reasons.

My mom was reading the news this morning and said, "An FBI most wanted fugitive was caught." So I asked for the name, thinking, "Oh, it could just be the media confusing 10 Most Wanted with Most Wanted." She very slowly says, "Yaser..." and as soon as she said it I almost jumped off the couch. I could not believe it! And him being caught in Texas?! Right under everyone's noses?! I kind of suspected this was going to happen - there were too many sightings of him in the states for me to think he fled the country - but it's still shocking! I'm so happy to see he's finally been caught. Sarah and Amina need justice.

Probably wishful thinking on my part, but maybe this will get the FBI to look at other Ten Most Wanted cases similarly and lead to good results.

I was very pleasantly surprised when I checked the non-TV capture area of this site this morning and first saw the poll for a new forum “Public Enemy #1”, and I first thought, “Now, why is Scumhunter giving up on Yaser Said”, but then it sunk in and I checked the TV capture area and lo and behold the “seven-exclamation point” capture had finally occurred...
When I saw the announcement, I was hoping it would say that he was caught in Egypt to send a message that “most wanted” fugitives/those charged with murder are vulnerable anywhere on the face of the Earth, but regardless I am very glad to see Yaser is finally in jail and is not living “rich and happy” (I believe that is the general meaning of his first and last name in Arabic) somewhere.
I wonder if Yaser had indeed stayed in Egypt for a while since 2008 and ultimately decided to return to Texas (traveling under a fake ID)? It seems odd that he would decide to do that, but perhaps he no longer felt safe in Egypt. That photo posted to PI Bill Warner’s site apparently taken in Egypt (perhaps near his birthplace on the Sinai Peninsula) looked a lot like him. However, I had seen an article in which it was mentioned that the local police department(s) believed he was in “North Texas” as of last year.

For those wondering, Patricia "Tissie" Said did make a statement appreciating happiness that Yaser was caught and Sarah and Amina can rest in peace. As I said before, I don't normally like victim blaming, but she literally drove her daughters to their deaths, knowing what Yaser was capable of. While I still feel there is and once again I'm sorry for the poor choice of words there is no "smoking gun" to say she's legally responsible and charge her with anything, I still feel she's morally responsible for their deaths. But at least we have a statement of support for her daughters. dfw.cbslocal.com/2020/08/27/now-the-girls-can-rest-in-peace-mother-of-daughters-amina-sarah-on-father-yaser-saids-arrest/

There are some P.I.'s that are very good at their jobs, but some are just attention seekers and not trustworthy. However, Warner's photo looked legitimate and was able to find some things like a P.O. Box in Westchester which is why I didn't take it with a grain of salt like I would do with other P.I.'s. Right now there's nothing to say if Yaser ever left Texas or not, hopefully we will get clarification one day.
