METHUEN -- Police are searching for Emilio DeLarosa, 32, of Lawrence, in connection with the death of Wanda Rosa, 29, who was found murdered in her Methuen home Monday morning, officials said.
Rosa was found unconscious during a well-being check at 5:45 a.m. Monday at a Tudor Street home in which police had to make forced entry into the building, police said.
She was transported to Holy Family Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to the district attorney's office.
Police are asking for the public's help to locate DeLarosa. Anyone with information can call Methuen police at 978-983-8677 or Massachusetts State Police detectives at 969-538-6161.
Rosa was the mother of a 4-year-old boy.
At a press conference Monday afternoon, District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett confirmed that the boy was in the home at the time of the attack. DeLarosa took the boy to a relative's home in Lawrence, then fled, Blodgett said.
The relative called authorities to do a wellness check, he said.
According to Carrie Kimball-Monahan, spokesperson for the district attorney's office, there was an incident in 2012 involving DeLarosa and Rosa, in which he kidnapped Rosa and assaulted her when their son was an infant.
DeLerosa entered a plea agreement in 2014 in Salem Superior Court and recieved a sentence of four years in state prison and five years of probabtion.
Methuen police Chief Joseph Solomon said his department did not have a history with the couple.
A neighbor said Monday that Rosa was currently in the early stages of pregnancy.
Shortly after word of Rosa's death began to circulate through the Tudor Street housing complex where she lived, relatives and friends began posting comments about her death on her Facebook page.
"Sis I promise to take care of my nephew Ethan," wrote Ortega Fantauzzi Ortiz around noon. "I love you so much n i'mma miss u forever. I can't believe I get a call like this."
Rosa's Facebook page contains comments urging activism in the face of domestic violence.
"Naïve is what I WAS-/WISE is What I am!," she posted under her introduction. "Please Choose the right path! #StopTheVIOLENCE~EmpoweringWomen."
Early Monday afternoon, police had the area surrounding Rosa's home roped off with yellow crime scene tape. They also placed tape around a black four-door car outside the home.
Several officers and the Police Department's mobile command unit were at the scene.
The home on Tudor Street is part of a public housing complex in Methuen.

Thoughts? This article is very good and detailed, but there are even more tragic and terrifying details in this case. According to other reports, the 4-year old boy who was present pleaded and begged with Delarosa to spare her life. He also made remarks before Wanda's murder about regretting "not finishing what he started." (I also assume his 4-year sentence was suspended since it seems he was out after only 2 years, please correct me if that's inaccurate. Sadly, that might not have prevented Wanda's murder, but it certainly didn't help):

Also, I found out about this case from social media and a Hunt Facebook group, as the family members of Wanda Rosa are understandably pleading for help to make this case go viral. While I stress this site like that page is just an unofficial fan page for The Hunt with John Walsh and America's Most Wanted, I do want to let any of Wanda's friends or family that come across this site know that I decided to post it on our site because of them, and while I don't have much clout, this guy will definitely place on my top 10 personal most wanted list at the end of the year should he unfortunately still be at large. I'm going to take this case very personally. I hope to see him caught before the end of the year so he doesn't have to stay on that list.
I also ask anyone reading this site to help this case go viral as has been requested. Post the link to this thread on Facebook, Twitter, etc... let's get this guy caught today.
