March 2018 article about this case. A U.S. Marshal working the Chandler investigation actually mentions how he watched old episodes of America's Most Wanted but nothing clicked. AMW fugitive John William McGrath has been ruled out as Chandler. It's also believed Chandler's real surname suggests Russian ancestry, and perhaps he did something during the cold war and wanted out. For me, what makes this case is confounding is how we have a last name now- Nichols or Nicholas, but there's no cold case murder fugitives that I can find on any websites (or our website) with that fast name. Nicholas Dolce actually looks aite like Chandler, but that would be his first name. melmagazine.com/the-man-who-woke-up-as-an-8-year-old-boy-30b175346a97I think he is a cold case fugitive indeed, but it has to be one of those cases that hadn’t been aired on AMW, not on any police departments most wanted site. As I’ve said, there are numerous cold cases that many of us Heavy Hitting sleuths never heard of like Juan Dios Garza for example. So I think it’s some case that a small police department hasn’t bothered asking for federal assistance.

I actually agree with this scenario. Still "fun" for me to sleuth and see possible connections- although the recent arrest of GSK proves authorities have resources us sleuths don't have.

If In Pursuit is like The Hunt, then I think it's too risky (if you only can do 1-2 cases you need solvable cases, and while this case imo is solvable, it's too big a risk on a fugitive show).
If the format is more like AMW with multiple cases an episode, then you can take that risk.
We have to wait and see what In Pursuit will look like to get a sense.

Wow great to see the case finally solved! But still the mystery remains as to WHY Robert Ivan Nichols lived the latter decades of his life as a different person.

I followed this case since randomly coming across its Wikipedia entry a few years back. Saw that the aspect of his identity had been solved late last year. He bears an eerie resemblance to the sketch of the man said to be last seen with Amy Renee Mihaljevic.
