Fugitive Profile as of December 1st, 2017: (Based on Tuscaloosa Sheriff's Office website- Most Wanted section) Height: 5'6" Weight: 156 lbs Hair: Black Eyes: Brown Age: 52 This weeks scheduled non-amw fugitive case is that of Tuscaloosa, Alabama rapist Alexander Velazquez Hernandez. On Jul 10, 2008, local authorities say Hernandez knocked on an apartment door, claiming to be there in order to fix a maintenance problem. Instead, he raped the 23-year old female occupant of that room. On Feb 24, 2009, Hernandez went to another apartment door with the same false-claim in order to get inside, he then raped a 20-year old woman in that room. One month later, Hernandez was stopped for a traffic violation and was recognized as the suspected serial rapist. A DNA sample was collected and later matched both rape cases. However, Hernandez had fled and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Thoughts? This is really scary and the problem with rapists is they don't stop, even if we only have one or two known cases, it's likely they are responsible for more. This is why fugitives such as Hernandez and Fidel Urbina are so important to capture.
I also think a case such as this could teach an important safety lesson. Not blaming the victims in any way, but it's a reminder that you should never open your door for anybody you don't know. Ask for ID or if someone in your complex is claiming a maintenance issue and you don't know the person, call your superintendent or whoever the appropriate person of contact is to make sure.
Not sure what to say as far as whereabouts. None of those articles suggest that he may have fled the country.

I don't see Alexander Hernandez a.k.a. Alexander Velazquez Hernandez in Tuscaloosa warrant search. www.tcsoal.org/arrest-db/warrantsHowever he's still on the Tuscaloosa Sheriff's Office website most wanted section and a local radio station posting from January 2017 mentions Hernandez as one of their top ten most wanted fugitives. wtug.com/tuscaloosas-ten-most-wanted-have-you-seen-these-folks/Based on that, I think it's safe to reasonably assume that Hernandez is still at large as of this posting date (12/1/2017). However, if anyone has any updates otherwise, please feel free to let us know.
