Elby Hars' trouble with the law started back in 1982. He was convicted of sexually abusing his daughter, Terri Hars. But even prison bars and handcuffs couldn't keep Hars from getting to his victim. After Elby Hars was released, he reunited with his daughter. Cops: Abused Girl Finds Other Victims For Her DadThis time around, police say Hars didn't make his daughter the primary victim. Instead, authorities say the father and daughter teamed up to become partners in crime. Police say Terri Hars became an accomplice by going out and finding young girls for her dad to abuse. But in February 2000, a 13-year-old girl told police Hars was abusing her. Authorities slapped the ex-con with his second round of sex abuse charges. But that's not all -- Terri Hars faced her own set of charges. She eventually turned herself in, and on December 14 2004, she was convicted of charges including three counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor. She's now doing time in a South Carolina prison. web.archive.org/web/20100901191228/http://www.amw.com/fugitives/case.cfm?id=31974#caseThoughts? That was Elby Hars' archived AMW profile. Of course, Hars wouldn't be stick around to be charged like his daughter, making AMW multiple times and winding up on John Walsh's last-ever personal Dirty Dozen list before the show was cancelled. www.fbi.gov/wanted/cac/elby-jessie-hars/viewAdmin Note: If you have any (news-related) updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

They should have aired him while on Lifetime as they were having a good roll of captures, maybe someone would have recognized him.

I just realized that I never replied to this thread. I personally feel that Hars has been working as a truck driver while on the run (The FBI wanted poster lists that as his occupation). However he would be 70-years old now so he may have retired from that line of work. It also annoyed me that he only got very short airings on AMW when I feel he shouldn't have been that difficult to find if given a full profile.

Elby Hars really deserves his half hour of shame, I hope he's still alive so he can be arrested after millions of people watch the hunt. Also it's wierd that Eugene Palmer another old age fugitive that has been on the run a years will be profiled on the same night.

Hars would be 73 years old today if still alive. There's never been anyone saying he may be dead but he was kind of heavy set and getting up there in age. Even if he were to be no longer alive, hopefully The Hunt can lead to that information since his alleged victim still needs justice.

That's true but personally I'd say the more likely to have his remains discovered would be Eugene Palmer, Elby I may think it's either he's alive or dead but Palmer I'm dead set he's deceased but we need confirmation of that and hopefully someone watching The Hunt will go to that location and do some exploring and find Palmer's remains hopefully.

I'm actually 50-50 on Eugene Palmer being deceased. But we'll see after The Hunt airs on Sunday.

So I think one big question after tonight's episode is- what do you guys think of Elby's daughter Terri? Do you have some sympathy for her or none?

I have a bit of sympathy for her because of what Elby did to her but when it came to what they did to Tracie well that's where the sympathy ends to tell you my honest opinion.

As of July 14th, 2018, Hars is still listed on the FBI's website as a wanted fugitive. (Same link as in the OP).

I wonder if they’ll air Hars next season on In Pursuit or maybe add him to the FBI Top Ten once a slot opens since the US Marshals already added Lester Eubanks, who is the same age as Hars and a more recent fugitive.

I could easily see this guy being the next Top Ten fugitive.
