(above photo credit: wqad.com via Illinois State Police) From wqad.com: CHAMPAIGN, Illinois — Illinois State Police are searching for a man who shot a police officer and is on the run. The department says Dracy “Clint” Pendleton, 35, shot a Mahomet police officer in the arm around 10:45 p.m. Saturday, May 7, in Champaign, Illinois. They believe Pendleton was shot by an officer but aren’t sure where he was shot – or how bad the injury is. Pendleton is believed to be armed with an AK-47 and has possibly stolen a 2007 white GMC pick up truck with an Illinois registration number of 165533B. A warrant for his arrest has been issued for attempted murder of a police officer. Pendleton is described as a white male standing 5’10” and weighing 155 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information is asked to call 217-384-TIPS or visit www.373tips.com. Callers may remain anonymous. While in pursuit, an officer crashed into another vehicle, killing a 26-year-old woman. wqad.com/2016/05/08/man-wanted-out-of-illinois-for-shooting-officer/Thoughts? According to other media reports, the police officer who was shot has been identified as Officer Jeremy Scharlow, who had stopped Pendelton for a minor traffic violation. I'm glad he's recovering, although this is still a tragic day that a woman was killed. When Officers chase suspects, probably the one thing they fear most (besides getting shot) is the potential for innocent civilians to get killed, so my thoughts go out to her family and the Officer who must be heartbroken and devastated that he accidentally killed a civilian. Not trying to speculate, but in some cases the suspect could also be charged with murder if someone is killed as a result of police chasing them: www.wandtv.com/story/31920000/developing-mahomet-officer-named-resting-at-home-suspect-still-at-large Admin Note: If you have any updated information on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

Your welcome and there was a tornado in the area they suspected where he's hiding so I guess it changes things.

Well it turns out Pendleton is a quote "above average survivalist" puts things in perspective even more considering that the FBI has a history of adding survivalists to the Ten most wanted list. Usually these survivalist Rambo types are such a pain to capture either they hide out really well for years or they cause a huge disruption through the respective community within a 2 month search. The critical Thing is let's hope he doesn't become another David Burgert who has been a struggle to find also but that may also be a possibility. www.wandtv.com/story/31947822/update-the-search-for-dracy-pendleton

It's important to note David Durham is a somewhat similar case and he was never added to the top 10 list. Shooting a police officer is a serious offense and whether he survives or not should be taken into consideration.

You know I was about to add him in that comment about survivalists but I just dismissed him in the moment like a jerk.
Yes shooting at a law enforcement officer is serious and especially if the guy who shot at a law enforcement officer has a weapon like say an AK-47 yes things should be taken rather seriously and this guy could try to hurt the public.
Though I'm surprised how the media doesn't make a big deal out of this case and Eric Frein they kept talking and talking about him non-stop (which may have to do with his war simulations and camouflage clothing and guns) but this guy I see nothing about him on the major networks like CNN.

I think it might be because the Officer not only survived but was out of the hospital rather quickly. Easy for me to say, but compared to other Officer shot cases, he is relatively okay it seems.
Still even shooting at an officer but not hitting them is serious enough for the top 10 list imo.

That's the same reason why I think this case isn't getting nationwide attention because Frein shot a police officer at the state level (state trooper) and the officer Pendleton shot was at the local level.
Now i do agree 100% about the fact that people who even shoot at cops and miss are likely additions to the list, especially Dracy Pendleton who they are actively searching.
Now Pope county is mostly national forest and it's only going to be a good hideout for a short amount of time before officers start combing everything in there.
The miracle in Pennsylvania was Frein gave himself up once the Marshals spotted him and I see this guy going down in a firefight since he got a bit aggravated at the officers on Saturday.

I think that's another thing is that if a manhunt is in one concentrated area, then it might not be necessary to use the top 10 list. I think Eric Frein was placed on it just in case he somehow escaped the woods but he never did.
The people in the general area in cases like this usually already know about the case and will call 911, the police, FBI, etc... if they spot them anyway. (Although for their peace of mind, I hope he's caught soon).

Also, it's hard to say how a fugitive will react. I expected Eric Frein to go down the same way and to my surprise he didn't. If Pendleton was killed in a shootout it wouldn't surprise me, but if he was taken down without incident that wouldn't surprise me either. Basically the whole goal of law enforcement is to take the suspect down alive and if they can figure out a way to surprise him and capture him before he has a chance to fight back, they will.

Frein was in one place in one of the countries most populated region.
Now the wound that Pendleton receive worried me that he may be deceased although it isn't clearly known, so we probably have to be fortunate if that's the case.
