Detectives need the public’s help in finding a former Florida man wanted for defrauding several seniors in Arcadia, Monrovia, Temple City and unincorporated San Gabriel by pretending to fix their cars for a fee. One victim, a 90-year-old man, lost $8,500. Investigators believe 51-year-old Anthony Quick fled California and may be in Nevada. Police said he is also wanted for thefts in Georgia, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Quick, who has been convicted of grand theft and fraud in Florida, was featured in America’s Most Wanted in 2006 for a Florida fraud case where the victim was an elderly woman. Monrovia Police Lt. Jaime Alfaro said a $1 million arrest warrant was issued last month for Quick on five fraud cases in the San Gabriel Valley from December 2014 to September 2015. But he’s suspected of committing more. “He is a predator,” Alfaro said. The modus operandi is the same. Alfaro said the suspect targeted seniors at shopping centers and claimed to be a mechanic. He said the suspect somehow disabled the victims’ vehicles, pretended to fix the problem then asked for payment. Some victims had cash in hand but others were taken to a bank to withdraw money. In Arcadia, Quick allegedly asked for $600 but got about $100 from an 85-year-old Arcadia woman on Dec. 6, 2014, according to Arcadia Police Detective Brian Oberon. It happened in the parking lot of the 99 Cents Store at 140 E. Duarte Road. Quick is also suspected of defrauding a 90-year-old Pasadena man out of $8,500 on Aug. 13, 2015. The second incident took place in the parking lot of Ralphs at 1101 W. Huntington Drive. In both incidents, police alleged the suspect manipulated the locking mechanism to the driver side door. The door wasn’t opening properly, Oberon said. The 90-year-old victim drives a Hyundai. Quick claimed to work for Hyundai, said he knew how to fix the problem and had the part needed, according to Oberon. “He showed a black chip and pretended to replace the part underneath the steering column. And miraculously, the door worked,” Oberon said. Oberon said he received a tip Quick was seen at a store in Pasadena. Detectives from the sheriff’s Temple station as well as Arcadia and Monrovia police independently conducted surveillance of the place but the suspect didn’t show, he said. Quick was described as white, 6 feet 2 inches tall and 180 pounds. He has tatoos of palm trees and “Miami” on his right calf, praying hands on his left shoulder and “Samantha” on his chest. Anyone with information about Quick’s whereabouts is asked to call Arcadia Police at 626-574-5151, Monrovia Police at 626-256-8000 or the sheriff’s Temple station at 626-448-9861.
Thoughts? As the article mentioned Quick has been on America's Most Wanted- in that case he became AMW direct capture #937 after he was arrested in Beverly Hills- which is why I'm placing him on the fugitives on tv section although technically he hasn't been profiled on any national crime show for his new alleged cons. It seems sadly these types of cases aren't taken seriously enough when it comes to sentencing, and I don't know if this will just be a guy perpetually in and out of prison for his cons- but at least capturing him now will give some peace of mind for his new alleged victims. www.whittierdailynews.com/general-news/20151021/man-wanted-for-scam-targeting-san-gabriel-valley-seniorswww.canyon-news.com/artman/publish/article_5548.phpweb.archive.org/web/20070806061625/http://www.amw.com/fugitives/brief.cfm?id=33912Admin Note: If you have any updated information on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

Quick becomes yet another AMW fugitive that went on to commit more crimes after serving their time. There's no doubt the show would've profiled him again if they were still on the air.

I understand in some cases why people like this don't get long jail sentences. The victims want their money back and you can't do that if they are locked up. Also, with many prisons being overcrowded, understandable you may want to keep the space you have for murderers, rapists, child molesters etc. instead of people who have committed non-violent crimes like Quick has. Here's the problem though. Many of these criminals may not use violence but they still have a horrific impact on people's lives. They prey on people who have worked hard for their money or may not have much at all and take it from them without a second thought. They have no concern for the hardships it can cost the victims without that money, now or in the future. And as Quick has shown, they will do their scams again and again to innocent people until they are put in jail. I still remember the interview Lizzette Garvin gave after AMW caught her where she admitted she had been stealing from others her whole life and given that it was all she knew, would likely continue with it unless she was locked up. Quick is no different, as shown by this thread with him being arrested several times after AMW caught him. Time to lock him up for good, otherwise he will continue to prey on seniors until he dies.

Wanted to provide an update on Quick. He was sentenced to four years in prison in New Jersey last year for the crimes listed in the New Jersey article Scumhunter linked to. With credit for time served,he could be paroled later this year but if not,he'll be out next year unless other states go forward with charges on the scams he pulled there. I hope they do because it's obvious as long as he free among us in society,he will continue to be a predator targeting the elderly.

I hope they do because it's obvious as long as he free among us in society,he will continue to a predator targeting the elderly. It's rather ridiculous and like a continuing cycle here unless they ever put him away for life. Sad to say but there is a notion(not by anyone on here)that criminals like Quick,Lizzette Garvin,Scott Dellagatta,Francis Edwards(all AMW direct captures wanted for credit card theft/fraud etc.) aren't a danger to the public and that it was pointless to profile them on AMW or AMW.com and that putting them in jail for a long time is a waste of prison space that could be used for rapists and murderers. IMO,that's because people think millions of dollars being stolen is a big deal but a few hundred or thousand isn't. And to me that's just bunk. As I said in my earlier post in this thread, these folks target people with their cons and steal their money without a second thought. When Scott Dellagatta was sentenced(the article is now archived) one of the people he stole money from(I think he took more then $60,000 altogether) stated that it took him almost four months of working non stop to make up for the money Dellagatta stole from his account. One of the victims Francis Edwards ripped off made a good point in that while he was working his butt off to get the money to buy the game system he wanted,Edwards way of making money to get stuff she wanted wasn't to work but to steal from people like him. A woman Garvin ripped off pointed out that she wasn't rich and Garvin stealing from her not once but twice(when she posed as a credit card rep concerned about her stolen card) not only hurt her financially but that Garvin had destroyed her sense of safety and trust in people. What price tag can you put on that? Bottom line, these crooks are no joke to the people they con and they should be viewed as the threats to society they are, especially when it comes to people like Garvin and Quick who have made it clear that if they are out in society, they will be stealing from others.
