In my opinion, even though there is no body, there is enough evidence to prosecute Flores for to me what seems like an obvious murder. This is a good step, but both for Kristin's family to have a proper place to mourn and to bolster the case hopefully they can find Kristin one day as well.

I wonder if they'll try to cut a deal like they did before? Hopefully nobody on the prosecution side will open their yaps this time. Still angers me how the ball was dropped like that.

If Flores sees his goose is cooked, maybe he'll cut a deal if he reveals where Kristin is. Sort of similar to William Greer /Tammy Esquivel case which is still going on and possible scenario there. You don't want to reward these guys for murder and successfully hiding a body, bit the family likely agrees to it for the sake of a proper burial and mourning and of course officially no longer having the not knowing.

Two major hurdles in this case:
1) Kristin’s body is still missing. The jury has to definitively determine that she is deceased before they can convict Flores; 2) They may not know where Kristin was killed. I have heard of plenty of no-body convictions, but it is very rare to have a murder conviction when the body is missing and the crime scene is never discovered.

IMO, given what the deal was before, it does seem Kristin's family just wants a body to bury, even if that means her killer gets less time. And I can't blame them. The not knowing is the worst and even if her killer gets less time, they can finally lay her to rest like she deserves.

Convictions HAVE happened in cases like this but it's very hard to do. Given that, I won't be surprised if an offer is made like the one before.

It is going to be tough but it has happened before. The most high-profile somewhat recent case I can think of where there was a conviction without a body was Sierra LaMar. I am hoping prosecutors found *something* or somethings new to charge Flores and his dad as it took over 20 years. Hopefully it's because they believe they finally built a solid case.

They must have found something otherwise I don't think they would have done this. They're playing it safe(as they should) so it won't be botched like it was last time.

Question I have is whether the sentencing judge is going to offer a reduced sentence if Flores reveals where Kristin’s remains are. Judges have offered to do that before (one example is the Ruth Ann Homberg case).
