It's been more than six years since Cook County prosecutors charged 22 year old Luis Macedo with killing 15 year old Alex Arellano. Chicago police found his body in the walkway of an abandoned house in the 3000 block of west 54th place in May of 2009. Investigators say Arellano, a Bowen High School freshman, was walking down the street with his girlfriend when he was approached by a couple of Latin King Gang members. When asked what his gang affiliation was, police say Arellano told the group he didn't belong to one. For unknown reasons, agents say that's when the gang members began to attack Arellano. They say as many as eight other gang members joined in when the group began chasing Arellano down the street. Once he was cornered in a gang way between two houses, police say at least four gang members beat Arellano with baseball bats. He was then shot once in the head and his body was set on fire. Macedo is the only suspect that's been positively identified and charged in connection with Arellano's murder. There are at least three other suspects Chicago police are attempting to identify. Macedo is identified as the leader of the group that killed Arellano. Macedo's last known address is in Oak Lawn, where he has family. The FBI also checked out a recent tip that he was hiding in Kansas. Since they didn't find him there, agents are now re-focusing their search back on the Chicago area. Agents describe Macedo as a Hispanic male, about 5' 5", weighing around 140 pounds, with dark hair and eyes. He also has several tattoos, including a tear drop under his left eye, a crown on the left side of his neck and the letters L and K on the right side of his neck.
He is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, call the FBI at (312) 421-6700.www.myfoxchicago.com/story/17821296/chicagos-most-wanted-luis-macedoThoughts? I believe Macedo is still at large since I haven't heard otherwise (if you hear otherwise, please let us know). Although for some reason he is no longer on the Chicago PD's website. According to another article, Macedo may also have the words "So Many" on the back of the back of neck. And there only so many things I can say about Macedo while keeping this post PG-rated. There was absolutely no reason for what happened to Alex, an innocent good good who was NOT a gang member. No teen deserves to way the die he did, but it's especially tragic when it's a total innocent. Please keep in mind Macedo was the only person positively identified. Other people are believed to be involved in the murder of Alex Arellano. So if you have any information on other potential participants, please contact the FBI with that as well. If Macedo is one day captured, hopefully it can lead to the arrests of everyone else involved with this case. www.myfoxchicago.com/story/17821296/chicagos-most-wanted-luis-macedowww.my29tv.com/story/20212549/chicagos-most-wanted-luis-macedo *********************UPDATE************************On Thursday, May 19th, 2016, Luis Macedo was added to the FBI's Top 10 List: www.fbi.gov/wanted/topten/luis-macedo/view *********************UPDATE************************ Admin Note: If you have any news-related updated information on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

Macedo has been added to the FBI's website and has been designated as their case of the week. Also, you can still call the FBI's Chicago office, but you can also contact any field office or foreign embassy or consulate if you believe you know Macedo's whereabouts. www.fbi.gov/wanted/murders/luis-macedo/view

Wow this fugitive is something else... I'm glad the FBI is bringing attention to this case by adding him to the featured fugitives page. Another question I have (I know I ask this for all FBI site fugitives and I bet I sound like a broken record), do you guys think he is a top ten list potential? I know he's been wanted since 2009, slightly recent than any of the elusive 9.

I definitely think he has top ten potential. He had an FBI press release a few years ago, which I believe was the same with Fidel Urbina before he was eventually added to the Top 10 list.

I agree honestly he is very deserving despite how long he's been on the run and his victim was 15 years old.. but something in me wants a more recent fugitive like I'd consider like Brenda Delgado, LePrinceton Burks or B-Kumar Patel, But I do think he'd be much easier to find if he is added. But also I don't want another long timer staying for a long time either.

It's a good thing there's a reward now. This guy reminds me of Joe Saenz because perhaps he may travel back and forth from Mexico to the states. The fact that they received a tip that he was in Kansas leads me to speculate that perhaps he may travel West to California, Nevada, Arizona or he may have headed east to say Florida. Now about what you said in another thread Scumhunter Macedo does have the potential of being a top tenner since he cut down a 15 year old in cold blood along with his buddies. When children are the victims in any crime whether they are brutally murdered in this case or sexually assaulted in the cases of Domingo Maye or Leprinceton Burks, I honestly don't tolerate it. I know I may have said it wouldn't really work if he is added since he's been on the run for years now, a recent fugitive is more suitable, so it should wait till say either Yaser Said or Fidel Urbina is captured and while Macedo would be found probably within 1-3 years if he tries his best to not get caught.
But a side of me has had a change of heart now says that yes he should be added since the crime didn't occur a 10 years ago nor 15 years ago.

As I mentioned in the general FBI discussion thread, Macedo has been added to the FBI's Top 10 list. I have now moved his thread to the Top Ten section and we can now discuss his case as a top Ten fugitive.

Okay he is the one fugitive I am afraid of since this manhunt may go on for years or months, it's hard to tell

He will in theory be harder to catch than Policarpio since he's not as recent but remember the FBI knew a lot more about Delgado in Mexico than they were letting on. Hopefully that's the case with Macedo if he's there as well.

Macedo may end up surrendering even better lol. It's the same with Guevara, Juan Garcia and Edwin Rivera Gracias

Well Brenda Delgado was about to surrender too before they caught her anyway. In any case, we can't take any chances and assume someone is going to surrender because most of the time they don't. However, I hope Macedo is now feeling some added heat to consider doing so himself.

I agree he's gotta be feeling bad and looking back at what he did 7 years ago and it's coming back to haunt him as we speak but do we know for sure if he's being cocky? He killed a kid he's going to be disliked in prison

I never assumed he was feeling cocky and considering the crime he was accused of I doubt he feels bad about it but that he may feel "heat" from it. Just that we can't assume he'll surrender. As you said, those are very good reasons for him to not want to surrender.
Also, some articles say there were prosecutions in this case, so I don't know if there's any more unknown participants in Alex Arellano's murder after all. It's a question I hope gets answered if and hopefully when Macedo is caught.

Well when I meant by cocky I meant that he doesn't want to give up and keep running.
He may feel bad or may not and thinking about others like Robert Fisher or JDB kinda makes a guessing game as to how each fugitive will react.
