Yes I agree. I must add the fact that this case has some very interesting similarities to David Durham.
•They both went on the run in 2011.
•they both shot at cops but they luckily survived.
•both have not been seen in 5 years.
•both had bad histories with law enforcement (I believe Durham did correct me if I'm wrong).
So it makes me wonder what happened? Where are they? But them alive I really have doubted it.

If he was buying a woman's wig, there's a chance he either may have been desperate in changing his appearance or he decided to cross-dress in order to elude capture. After 6 years almost, anything is possible and the same can be said about guys like David Durham and Jason Derek Brown. The Hunt portrayed Burgert as an Anti-government, pain in everyone's a**, odd ball and i wouldn't be surprised if he actually did dress like a woman.

Sometimes L.E. will say that to save face but in this case I think the Sheriff honestly believes it and I think Burgert is dead too. This is a guy who never shut up and never stopped causing trouble- he in my opinion surely would have surfaced again in some way if he made it out.

Making Burgert our fugitive of the week for this week (6/30-7/7). I realize he is well covered already but sometimes the goal of fugitive of the week is not just to publicize lesser known cases but to also appeal to non-members to generate discussion. They may be more inclined to join and participate on our site if they see a well known case they're already familiar with up front from time to time.
In general I prefer to highlight lesser known cases and this is only a once in a while exception for the reasons already stated.

I agree with many people on this thread that David Burgert may be getting help on the run. When many radicals were added to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted List in the 60s and 70s, many (I.e. Bernadine Dohrn and Katherine Ann Power) were either never apprehended or were dropped from the List. Due to the support of their group members, they were able to hide. I fear based on that empirical evidence, it’s going to be a while before they find him.

I agree he is being hidden by supporters if still alive. I just find it hard to believe he is still out there especially considering the current political climate in the U.S.

David Burgert was on last night's "Wanted" segment on A&E's Saturday night episode of Live PD, which makes sense since Missoula County is one of the newer departments on the show. They show some age-progression photos and the Detective handling the case still believes Burgert is alive and had help from a friend to get into Canada. They also once again mention Burgert possibly dressing as a woman. In my opinion, it might be a good idea to do some sketches of him as a woman as well. I personally think this is 2019, and whatever people want to do privately that isn't against the law is their business, I don't care that Burgert cross dresses, but I do think it is a potential clue that is sometimes overlooked. m.twitter.com/OfficialLivePD/status/1193374575590952960

I’m genuinely amazed Burgert isn’t on the US Marshal’s 15 Most Wanted List. He’s very dangerous due to the current charges against him.

Could be because of the dead or alive debate- but officials seem to think he's alive. I personally think he's dead but hey if they can add Beacher Hackney who was dead the entire time they can add Burgert with multiple open slots.

Surprisingly, Burgert was one of the two 15 seconds of shame fugitives on tonight's episode of In Pursuit with John Walsh.
