Notorious gulf cartel leader osiel Cardenas guillen has been released from federal prison and is expected to stand trial on Mexico for his leadership in the notorious gulf cartel if this guy sounds familiar he was the eventual successor to Juan abrego Garcia who is serving 11 life terms in a maximum security prison usp Hazelton where another infamous gangster Whitey bulger was incarcerated and eventually murdered how ever Garcias arrest back in the 90s osiel brothers wanted to succeed Garcia and however osiel took over he was arrested and extradited to the US for drug trafficking extortion and money laundering offenses and threatening two federal agents and informant in the infamous 1999 Matamoros standoff and the agents and informant were allowed to return to Texas fortunately he's also facing charges in Mexico and he is on the custody of immigration authorities and at some point will stand trial in mexico
