Jose Reyes-Sanchez has been wanted by authorities in Texas and Michigan for TWO separate double murders. He was aired on the March 15th, 2008 episode of AMW as a 15-minutes of shame case. Below is the archive description of his case:
Michigan Fugitive Shows His Dark Side
Detroit cops say he's a cold-blooded killer with a fiery temper. In the early morning hours of December 31, 2005, Jose Ramon Reyes-Sanchez watched as a family member got into an argument with a couple of men.
According to police, Reyes-Sanchez did nothing at the time. But cops say he left the scene and came back with a gun, shooting both men with an icy efficiency.
Law enforcement officers believe that Reyes-Sanchez has displayed this kind of cold-blooded behavior before. In 1997, cops in Arlington, Texas say Reyes-Sanchez again followed an argument by returning with a gun and shooting his brother-in-law and another man.
Close Call With Cops
After the New Year's Eve shooting in Detroit, cops say Reyes-Sanchez hit the road: with his 12-year-old son in tow. Driving a black Ford pickup truck, police believe he and the boy headed south.
Cops say the day after the murder, Reyes-Sanchez was stopped by law enforcement in Texas. But according to police, he showed a fake ID and was sent on his way.
The bad news is that Reyes-Sanchez got away. The good news is that cops believe he's probably picked up a new identity and continues to hide in plain sight.
Cops say Reyes-Sanchez used a .380 caliber automatic handgun in both the Texas and Michigan murders. Those who know him in Detroit say he often carries a gun, and likes to show it off.
Thoughts? I saw his case has had no movement in the Detroit Criminal Court case search system since the warrant was signed the day after the last double homicide. That is enough for me to determine the case is still active based on common sense.
Also, unfortunately I'm not sure if they did in the first place, but some links are broken in the archive and I currently don't have a picture of Reyes-Sanchez's then 12-year old son or what he'd look like today.
This is a very underrated case and I wish AMW spent more time on him. Right now, four people are dead because of his alleged temper. There's no telling with this guy- it's a cliche saying, but he really is a ticking time bomb.
