Oh wow, not sure which thread to reply to, hey you did call it earlier! I think the one thing was Brossman's killer was believed to be taller than the I-70 killer but as you said, that changes when you go on the lower end of believed height. Plus eyewitness accounts are notoriously unreliable, so that would also explain any discrepancies in reported height.

You know, I have never been more genuinely horrified by an unsolved series of serial killings except maybe the Golden State Killer. The Detective Rich Plummer was prophetic when he warned that a serial killer never stops and may only stop for a period of time. Brossman’s murder especially bothers me. He provided the money, but was senselessly shot in the back of the head, as it appears now, just for the thrill of it.

Do you think that there is a good chance that they come out with a more definitive announcement that the I-70 killer is the prime suspect after that November meeting?

Billy Brossman was shot at the Prairieton Road 7th and 70 Liquor Store in Terre Haute, IN. Does anyone else want to take an educated guess which major interstate runs virtually adjacent to that location (it made the hair stand up on my neck when I found out)? 😧

www.kmov.com/news/did-he-strike-again-i-70-killer-could-be-linked-to-unsolved-terre-haute-murder/article_cc50f99c-4195-11ec-a14c-27819029165d.htmlThe taskforce that convened this past week did take the possibility of whether Brossman was murdered by the I-70 Killer seriously. They didn’t reach the conclusion definitively that the murders were committed by the same person, but they noted similarities, and one law enforcement official who spoke privately with KMOV indicates he’s convinced that the I-70 Killer and man who shot Brossman are one in the same. Here’s where things get wild: they have a person of interest in the Brossman homicide. If that’s the case, that person is likely being investigated for the I-70 killings, too.

KMOV reported for the first time that it was revealed that the Brossman and McCown homicides took place just seven blocks away from each other.

It would be a great problem to have if I have to figure out how to move two cases to the captures section.

A new update from the KMOV web series: If the I-70 Killer did indeed murder Brossman, the motive is beyond horrifying: they believe the I-70 Killer murdered Brossman simply to re-enact his killing of McCown nearly a decade earlier.
Here is the part of the web series dealing with the Brossman murder, and it includes a clip from America's Most Wanted:
I am about 95% sure that Brossman's killer and the I-70 Killer are the same person. My reasoning:
1) The killings in 1992 and 2001 took place less than one mile from one another. Further, both killings took place just off of I-70 in Terre Haute. 2) In the I-70 Killings, we know that the killer almost always took the victim to the back of the store where the murder(s) took place. Here, we know that Brossman was ordered to walk to the back and was shot in the back of the head. 3) Robbery appeared to be a secondary motive. I have read an article that the killer left a lot of money untouched in the Indiana killings. I have looked carefully at the Brossman surveillance, and it looks like the killer left some money in one part of the drawer. The killer didn't look like he was desperate for money, and if robbery was the motive, it is pretty rare for a cooperating victim to be shot (and from what I have seen, that's exactly what Brossman did).
4) This is a new development: they believe Brossman's killer went to the back to make sure no one else was in the store. That's when he brought the beer up. We know that the I-70 Killer scouted the eventual murder scenes in St. Charles, MO and in Wichita, KS (the web series revealed that there were two females in the Wichita bridal shop who said that he waited for them to leave).
If Brossman was killed by the I-70 Killer, the Killer was dormant for seven years before striking again. Who's to say he wouldn't strike again? That's what scares me the most.

Yeah I hate to admit it but we see such awful crimes on AMW etc... it's sometimes hard not to be jaded, but this is a case that had me shook from the very beginning. And unfortunately it just gets worse.

Update: I decided to put this information under Billy’s forum topic. thebuzzmonthly.com/chasing-the-i-70-killer/The eyewitness in the Raytown murder committed by the I-70 Killer in 1992 was shown, according to this article, footage of the Brossman homicide and asked by the detective if he believed Brossman’s killer was the same person he saw nine years earlier. That eyewitness texted back an emphatic, “YES [sic] SIR!” If that eyewitness was that emphatic, I’m convinced even more than ever that Billy Brossman was a victim of the I-70 Killer.
