I’m not terribly optimistic.
Keep in mind, Timmothy’s blood was found in his mother’s SUV. Plus, I have always had trouble with the fact that she committed suicide. To me, that indicates she did something horribly wrong, and not just merely sent her child to other people.

Normally I wouldn't be either however:
-Timmothy had a nose bleed in Amy's vehicle which may have explained the blood.
-The boy apparently gave the same date of birth as Timmothy Pitzen, and was already seen as not belonging in the area.
Also, the family insists Amy would not have killed Timmothy. And there's something about how strong they are in their insistence. I'm not saying this to sound mean or heartless but a lot of these missing child or adult cases I will see family members that I feel are unfortunately in denial when they state how 100 percent sure their loved one is still alive when there is overwhelming evidence their loved one is no longer with them. Of course, you never want to give up hope. But sometimes that hope does not adequately prepare them for the worst case scenario.
However, there seems to be rationale in Timmothy's father and family insistence. Amy may have had problems, but it's beyond their comprehension she could kill Timmothy. Granted, they probably would never have expected her to give him away either. But there is something to me in how forceful they are in believing Amy didn't kill Timmothy despite having so many reasons to be oissed off at her. (Not condoning her suicide or her actions, she clearly needed help she didn't get.)
I do agree the best recourse regarding the new lead is to be cautiously optimistic, not get our hopes up. However, while still cautious, I do feel slightly more optimistic than usual and I'm crossing my fingers.

I feel if it the lead turns out to be true, Amy gave Timmothy to some very sketchy characters and endured 8 years of torment.
I’m curious, if this teenaged boy saw the In Pursuit web-show “The Search Continues” while playing on the computer.

Just a note that I edited your post only to remove my type-o's from your quote of my post. But yeah Amy said she was going to give him to people who would take care of him only to give him to two weirdos (if the lead is true) instead. Also there was several media on Timmothy. Could have been The Hunt or Crime Watch Daily or anything where he saw himself.

I may stand corrected - I have read online that they are looking for a particular vehicle from the Red Roof Inn.

Yep. That’s what I feared. That kid claiming to be Pitzen should be arrested by Campbell County, KY law enforcement officers for fooling everyone and creating such false hope that he would be found alive after almost eight years- especially Pitzen's family and friends.

Even worse, according to posts on the In Pursuit FB page, this is actually a 24-year old man! *rolls eyeballs*

This sucks, I was cautiously optimistic, but admittedly was a little less "cautiously" than usual if that makes sense.
I really hope one way or the other Timmothy's case is solved even if sadly it's finding his remains. His family has suffered not knowing long enough.

I sincerely hope there is a hell for people who perform hoaxes like this one. The Pitzen family said it best today when they said it felt like day one all over again.
