MILTON, Fla. -- One man is arrested and another is wanted in the murder of 14-year-old Pace teen Cody Walker, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday morning.
Isaiah Jordan McCullers, 18, is charged with first-degree felony murder during a robbery. Isaac Cameron Daniels, 19, is wanted on the same charge.
The sheriff's office announced last week that remains found on March 28 were identified as Walker. He was reported missing on March 19 after last being seen on March 14.
Deputies believe the murder took place on March 15, based on forensic evidence. The skeletal remains were found in the woods near Sandy Forrest Road in Munson by a citizen. A homicide investigation began immediately.
Sheriff Bob Johnson said Tuesday that McCullers was taken into custody on March 30 for violation of probation. He was also considered a person of interest in the murder at the time. McCullers was then charged with murder on April 2 after the remains were identified as Walker a day prior.
Santa Rosa County Sheriff's investigators conducted over 30 interviews and executed seven search warrants.
"There's some stuff on social media that's kind of aggravating to us right now because they're saying we didn't respond in a timely fashion and we didn't really put all of our resources to bare on this case because Cody Walker had run-ins with us prior," Sheriff Johnson said. "I think we've dispelled that because when you have a positive ID on the victim and you already have a guy in jail, that tells you we took it pretty serious. We take every case serious."
Johnson says investigators have a "solid motive" for the murder, but he could not discuss it since the investigation is ongoing.
"I can tell you this much...when you hang around people dealing drugs and carrying weapons, sometimes bad things happen," he said. "They don't take into consideration age, they don't take into consideration race or anything like that. Drug dealing is a business. ...When you start messing around with their business, they take it serious and people die."
Johnson added the investigation revealed that both McCullers and Daniels are responsible for two more robberies. More charges for both are pending.
Authorities say McCullers and Daniels face life in prison without parole and possibly the death sentence for the current charges.
Anyone with information on Daniels' whereabouts is asked to contact investigators at 850-983-1190. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact the Santa Rosa County Crime Stoppers Program at SRCCS. COM or (850)437-STOP.
A reward of up to $3,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.

Thoughts? As of this posting date (4/8/2021), Daniels is still listed as a wanted fugitive on Santa Rosa County Crime Stoppers. I don't see his name in Florida's public access warrants database yet, but I'm assuming that's because the warrant was just issued this week.
