WELDON, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Kern County Sheriff deputies are searching for a wanted man who is suspected of attempted murder and other related crimes on Thursday in Weldon.
The department says around 2:30 p.m. deputies from the Kern Valley Substation responded to the 4400 block of Brooks Road regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. Deputies arrived and learned the suspect, Paul Schnell, 34, fired a pistol at three people after an argument over property according to KCSO. The KCSO SWAT, air support and bomb squad responded to assist in the arrest of Schnell at his home on Brooks Road.
However, KCSO says he was not found at his home.
Deputies obtained a felony warrant for Schnell for arrest for attempt murder, assault with a deadly weapon and negligent discharge of a firearm.
Schnell is described as a white man with blonde hair, blue eyes, stands 6 foot, 6 inches tall and weighs 240 pounds.
