Ricardo Villanueva-Cordova, 33, has been charged with murder and tampering with evidence in connection with Tuesday’s killing of 27-year-old Michael S. Sanchez, according to court records. Police said that, before the stabbing, Sanchez and Villanueva-Cordova got into an argument at Villanueva-Cordova’s home, next to Sanchez’s, at the Longview Mobile Home Park in the 10000 block of West Central over Villanueva-Cordova’s barking dog. Sanchez had called animal control about the Chihuahua several times, to no avail, according to the victim’s father, Richard Sanchez. Relatives of Villanueva-Cordova declined comment on Thursday outside their home. According to a criminal complaint filed in Metropolitan Court, police responded at about 8:10 a.m. on Tuesday to a call at a Valero gas station at 98th and Central, where a man later identified as Michael Sanchez was found bleeding after being repeatedly stabbed. A witness told police he saw Sanchez on the ground screaming and a man on top of him with his knee on Sanchez’s chest, stabbing him repeatedly. The witness said the attacker got into a beige and maroon older model Chevy Z-71 truck. Police traced the truck’s license plate number to Villanueva-Cordova. An “ongoing disagreement” between Villanueva-Cordova and Sanchez flared when Sanchez went to Villanueva-Cordova’s home earlier Tuesday morning “cussing and complaining” over the dog’s barking, the criminal complaint states. A short time later, Villanueva-Cordova’s family heard their dog yelping, and they found the dog hurt and bleeding. “Family members assumed, because of the earlier disagreement, Michael may have been responsible for the dog’s injuries,” according to the complaint. Sanchez’s father disputed that idea in a telephone conversation Thursday. “He probably did threaten the owner, man to man, but my son loved animals,” Richard Sanchez said. “He was good with animals. There would be no way he would do anything to hurt an animal.” He said his son was just promoted to lot manager at West Side used car dealership and that, after dropping out of Rio Grande High School, he got his GED and bought his own trailer. He “kept to himself, he worked hard, trying to pay off his trailer, just trying to make it, like everybody else,” Richard Sanchez said. “He was a good kid.” Another family member suggested reasons to doubt his involvement in the dog-car run-in that may have triggered the attack. “I don’t think he did it unless it was an ongoing situation and he was to the fed-up point,” his sister, Julianna Sanchez, 29, said Thursday. She said APD took her brother’s car to test its wheels for any evidence of them having come into contact with an animal. She said another dog was recently run over in her brother’s neighborhood. After the dog was injured and while the family was tending to it, Villanueva-Cordova left the home, according to the criminal complaint. Witnesses at the gas station said they saw a truck matching the description of Villanueva-Cordova’s truck speed up just before the stabbing. While officers were talking to family members, Villanueva-Cordova’s girlfriend, Ofelia Gardea, arrived. She told officers Villanueva-Cordova called her Tuesday morning, “upset,” and told her, “I stabbed and killed somebody, the neighbor ran over the dog,” the criminal complaint states. Villanueva-Cordova asked Gardea to go his home and watch over his mother, according to the complaint, which also said family members told police it’s possible Villanueva-Cordova fled to Mexico" unsolved.com/videos/880www.abqjournal.com/213351/news/accused-killer-may-be-in-mexico.htmlwww.abqjournal.com/211972/abqnewsseeker/neighbor-dispute-over-dog-barking-leads-to-stabbing-death.htmlwww.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/13637/4101869?title=news_1krqe.com/2014/06/24/albuquerque-man-is-indicted-in-fatal-stabbing/www.crimestoppersnm.com/blog/2013/07/03/july-4th-to-july-10th-2013-2/Admin Note #2: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

Thoughts? I found out about this case since Michael Sanchez's family has been posting on various message boards trying to get justice. And don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE animal lover and a dog lover. Other neighbors described Villanueva-Cordova's dog as a "nuisance" as well. Yes, I might be upset too if my neighborhood was constantly calling animal control on my dog too regardless of if he was a problem in the community or not. I understand the bond and attachment. But here's what you don't do- allegedly stab a guy repeatedly over an accusation you can't prove. Call the police or take him to court for your dog's medical bills if you think he did it- but don't take the law into your own hands whether you can prove anything or not. One news report say lots of neighbors complained about the dog so if it was an intentional and not accidental hit it could have been anybody. I stress this may or not be the exact number of times so no one quote me on this, but I read one family member comment on Facebook Sanchez may have been stabbed as many as 22 times. That's just overkill. A dispute over a dog making too much noise should have never led to this.

Can we add this case to the Stupidest Murders Hall Of Shame? (Now referring it as a hall of "shame" due to the subject matter).
Yeah this was just a situation that got way out of control, and where Ricardo really should have thought instead of automatically assuming that Michael had killed his Chihuahua. Since he's been on the run for a year, then he probably fled to Mexico. It's just kinda ironic that the closest Mexican state to New Mexico is the state of Chihuahua.

www.abqjournal.com/440383/news/year-later-grieving-father-waits-for-justice-in-death.htmlA new article interviews the father of Michael S. Sanchez and his continuing quest for justice. I swear I had no idea this article was coming out and this is pure coincidence! But nice to see. Sadly it says he wrote to AMW and he doesn't seem aware the show was cancelled. But we have Villanueva-Cordova now on our AMW fan forum which lots of people read and hopefully John Walsh's new show "The Hunt" considers this case for season 2.

On June 18th, 2013, in Albuquerque NM., at the Valero gas station located at 98th St. and Central SE., at 8:10 in the morning, our son, Michael S. Sanchez was pumping gas on his way to work, when he was stalked, attacked, slashed and stabbed 28 times, in broad daylight, in front of many witnesses and on camera, by his neighbor, Ricardo Villanueva Cordova. Michael survived the initial attack for two hours before dying at the age of 27 years old, for absolutely no reason, other then, he just wanted a good night sleep.
Michael had just received a promotion and a raise the day before he was murdered and he was excited about getting to work early that day to start his new position. As it would turn out to be, Michael had a rough night, like many other nights, because of the dogs in the neighborhood who were constantly causing a nuisance for him and the other tenants. Michael had complained to his brother, Isaac that he was having trouble with the dogs and with his neighbor, Ricardo Villanueva Cordova. It was under Isaac’s advice that Michael called and reported this activity, on a couple of different occasions, to Animal Control. Ricardo Villanueva Cordova had already been warned once, received a citation the second time and maybe someone was going to jail on the third time. Either way, Michael was threatening to call Animal Control for a third time, the morning of the murder. It has been reported that an argument between Michael and Ricardo broke out that morning at the trailer park where they both resided. It has also been reported that Michael may have ran over Ricardo’s dog, but as his family, we know Michael did not run over Ricardo’s dog. He was an animal lover, we all are, and dogs were his favorite. His vehicle was confiscated at the murder scene, underwent examination and was released almost immediately. Even if Michael had ran over the dog, would murder be the solution? Why wasn’t the law called? Why wasn’t Michael reported for running over the dog? There was proper procedure to follow, and Michael tried to follow it, by calling the proper authorities. Ricardo on the other hand, did not follow any procedure. He took the law into his own hands. He assumed his dog was ran over by Michael, because he heard his dog crying, but his dog was only treated for minor injuries. Those kind of injuries could have come from a dog fight, for a dog who ran around the neighborhood unleashed and unattended. Meanwhile, Michael deserved to die? We would have much rather visited our son in jail, then at the graveyard. Michael left for work, stopped for gas, and his life ended that tragic morning. His life was taken so easily, without hesitation and without a reason. All Michael wanted was a good night sleep.
His murderer, Ricardo Villanueva Cordova, is armed and dangerous and still at large. He has been on the run and able to outsmart law enforcement for 15 months now. Crime Stoppers of Albuquerque, New Mexico, at 1 505 843 STOP, featured Ricardo Villanueva Cordova in July of 2013. They posted a $1,000.00 cash reward for any tips or information leading to his capture and arrest. The Sanchez-Lucero family, has since added another $1,000.00 to that cash reward. On June 24th, 2014, Ricardo Villanueva Cordova was indicted by a grand jury and a warrant was put out for his arrest charging him with first degree murder, kidnapping and tampering with evidence.
The Michael S. Sanchez family (Sanchez-Lucero) has been doing what they can to help bring this vicious killer to justice. Michael was born to a single/divorced mother on October 19th, 1985. She raised him herself, until her death, when Michael was 16 years old. Michael does have a living biological father, but when his mother died, his Uncle Carlos and Aunt Lisa Sanchez-Lucero, who is Michael’s mothers biological sister, were granted guardianship over Michael. They finished raising Michael, together with the help of their son, Isaac. They gave him a home, they helped him finish his education, helped him buy his first vehicle, helped him find the right employment and helped him purchase his own home. Since Michael was murdered, his father, Richard Sanchez has come forward and given interviews to local media outlets and an interview in the Albuquerque Journal, to help spread the face of son’s killer. The Sanchez-Lucero family who helped raise Michael and eventually finished raising him, are responsible for all of the financial backing, in trying to keep Ricardo Villanueva Cordova’s face in the news media, and trying to keep his face in circulation on media social sites. We have held two memorials for Michael S Sanchez and after the memorials, we have organized our support system, in our family and friends and provided them with supplies (wanted posters, staple guns, tape, nails and hammers) to go out into the City and post wanted posters, everywhere they will let us post one, of Ricardo Villanueva Cordova. We have also provided food, snacks, water and transportation to our helpers, but we are thankful to do it. We have mailed wanted posters to several surrounding areas, such as, Farmington, Socorro, Santa Fe, Las Vegas, NM, Las Cruces, Deming, Silver City, Utah, El Paso, California, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. I myself maintain Michael’s profile on Facebook, where I post wanted posters daily and any updates that the Sanchez-Lucero family may have received. We have an unbelievable amount of support from the community on social media and we are not ready to give up yet, not until Michael S Sanchez receives the justice he deserves. It has been an expensive, but necessary venture for my family, but well worth it. If someone will just see his face and turn him in.
Another real concern we have is that we are not alone. There is a lot of families dealing with similar situations and we have heard about a lot of them, now that we are in the position we are in. We are only one of the bordering towns and only one of the families, who have fallen victim to terrorists entering our Country illegally, for financial gain at all cost. Drugs, crime of all kinds, stealing our children and turning them into sex slaves, murdering our children in the streets and fleeing back, because they can. Yes, they can get away with it. All they have to do is flee back and come back with a new identify. This is done every day and people need to be made aware of it. Maybe, if Michael’s story would be told, we could bring some national awareness to this issue, to help capture these criminals, or warn people of the consequences they may face, if they continue this kind of illegal activity in our Country. Let them know that they will not get away with it.
On another note, the Sanchez-Lucero family is in no way looking for any kind of fame, or financial gain from the story on the death of Michael S Sanchez. Our only concern, and our mission from the very beginning, has been to bring attention, national or otherwise, to this case, in the hopes of finding a murderer before he kills again and to bring rest, peace and justice for our loved one and for our family.
Thank you to ALL of the Michael S Sanchez supporters. We appreciate you more then you know.

Thanks for joining and sharing your information. Ricardo Villanueva-Cordova has been on the run for way too long. And while I've seen petty crimes on this forum, this is one of the worst cases I've seen of a situation escalating way, way beyond to the point that it had to.
To Zero Point Zero and the producers on The Hunt, if you come across this profile, I understand you are limited in the amount of cases you choose and can only do 1-2 an episode, but I would like to ask you please consider airing Ricardo Villanueva-Cordova for season 2. I have seen the family posting all over social media even before I got the chance to finally add it to our website. I read the article where they have written to AMW which was the previous court of last resort before it was cancelled. Elizabeth has mentioned here she posts wanted posters every day on Michael's Facebook page. They are trying so hard and need another avenue to catch Villanueva-Cordova. This man is catchable- all it will take is someone seeing his face- either here, or on your website, or on tv, and doing the right thing. If you do see my request, thank you for considering the case.

I'm also hoping that anyone from The Hunt sees this page as well. As I mentioned before, CNN's Facebook supposedly passes input on shows onto the producers.
