Well, that took a little longer than I intended. My apologies for the wait, but I finally have the June 2002 episodes all set for you guys!
Episode #678 - June 1, 2002 Samuel Jones (COPS Credits) - Kansas City police were seeking Samuel Jones for the murder of a woman in a motel room. Jones, who has previously served time for rape, strangled the woman to death. He was captured in November 2002 thanks to AMW tips, making him Capture #726.
Unknown Chandra Levy Killer (Full segment) - AMW delves into the investigation into the death of congressional intern Chandra Levy, who disappeared in the summer of 2001 and whose body was found just the previous week. Forensic experts tell producers that bones alone won't tell what happened to Chandra, but the clothing that was found could provide clues as to how she died. The possibility of a serial killer being involved is also brought up, as two other unsolved murders of young women in Washington, DC could be connected to her death. In 2011, Ingmar Guandique was arrested and charged with Chandra's murder, although he was later granted a new trial (his charges were eventually dismissed and he was deported), so the case is still unsolved. The murder of Joyce Chiang, who some believed could be connected to Chandra's death, was also solved around the same time. Christine Mirzayan's murder was later connected to a serial rapist. A suspect was arrested in that case in 2019.
Alikish Moore (Breaking news, approx. 1 minute) - Los Angeles police were seeking Alikish Moore for a brutal murder. Moore allegedly shot and killed a woman during an argument with his girlfriend. The victim was trying to protect her friend from getting shot, and died in front of her two children. Just weeks after this profile, an AMW tip led to Moore's arrest, making him Capture #714.

Unknown Allen Adams Killer (Full segment) - Rick Segall updates viewers on a case AMW has been following; the murder of a Korea veteran back in the 60s. In 1967, Allen went missing, and the Army believed he'd gone AWOL. But in December 1996, when a building in downtown Washington DC was being demolished, Allen's body was found among the rubble. The restaurant used to be the Crown Bar and Grill, a popular hangout for military personnel. AMW aired the case in the late-90s and tried to identify some women that Allen had mentioned in a letter to his mother in the 60s shortly before his death. Thanks to that profile, the two women were identified and located. Although they knew much about Allen, they couldn't provide any information about his death. At the time of this profile, investigators were asking for anybody who knew Allen back in the 60s and anybody who worked at the restaurant at the time of the murder. Still unsolved

Behind the Scenes of an AMW Reenactment (Full segment) - AMW provides an inside look at how one of their reenactments is filmed. The case in question is that of Anthony Carter, a jail escapee from Texas. The documentary shows producer Tom Finerty and the production crew scouting out the location (Travis County Jail), auditions for the actors and the actual filming of the reenactment. There's also a really interesting scene where the production crew has to build a set for one part of the story where the jail escapees cut a wire fence because the jail didn't want their fence destroyed again. It also shows someone from the legal department on the phone to find out what brand names they can and can't say during the story.

Anthony Carter (Full segment) - Police in Harris County, Texas, were seeking one of the most unique fugitives ever seen on AMW. Anthony Carter, a schizophrenic man who gave himself his own tattoos and sucked his thumb, allegedly shot and killed a homeless man because the victim pawned Carter's guitar. After he was arrested, Carter escaped from the Harris County Jail with another inmate who was caught the following day. Carter was arrested a few months later, but then escaped from yet another jail while awaiting extradition. As a result of this profile, Carter was captured in Iowa City, Iowa, after a man recognized Carter in a convenience store. Carter was Capture #710.
(commercial break)
Olin Young (Break-Four Tease) - South Carolina fugitive who was allegedly drunk driving when he slammed into a car, killing a woman and her young daughter. The following day, AMW tips led to Young's arrest, making him Capture #711.
(commercial break)
Timothy Coombs (Full segment) - Wanted by the Missouri Highway Patrol for shooting a state trooper. Investigators say the shooting was an act of revenge; Coombs, a member of a white supremacist group, allegedly shot Trooper Bobby Harper because the officer had arrested Robert Joos, the leader of Coombs' hate group. The trooper was shot while standing in his kitchen, and the bullet went right through his newly-transplanted liver. Coombs was linked to the crime because a week earlier, he'd shot his neighbor's horse doing target practice, and the bullets matched. Trooper Harper survived, but later died during a heart operation. Still at large
Episode notes: - This episode was filmed at the Metropolitan Police Department's Joint Operations Command Center in Washington DC.
- Although amw.com said the unsolved murders of Joyce Chiang and Christine Mirzayan were profiled on this episode, their profile simply consists of their photos briefly shown on the screen during Chandra Levy's profile. When I first saw this episode, it took me awhile to realize that the cases (technically) had been profiled (we'll see in 2011 that AMW considers flashing a fugitive's photo on-screen without narration a profile).
- I LOVE the behind the scenes feature in this episode. It really gives a good luck at everything that goes into filming a reenactment for the show. AMW used to do segments like this all the time, but stopped doing them in the later years, which is a shame because I liked their behind-the-scenes stories.
- During Anthony Carter's profile, the band "Megadeth" has their name misspelled on an "AMW Fast Fact" that appears on-screen.
- AMW interviewed Robert Joos for their report on Timothy Coombs, but according to John Walsh's narration, Joos said "for religious reasons," he didn't want his face shown. Though Joos was interviewed in silhouette, AMW still broadcasts various photos of him, including a mugshot and photos taken during his arrest.
- Trooper Bobby Harper died after Coombs was first profiled in 1995, making him one of a number of victims who died before AMW resolved their case.
Episode #679 - June 8, 2002 DeMorris Hunter (COPS Credits) - Florida police were seeking DeMorris Hunter for the murder of his neighbor. He was also being sought in California for killing another woman. A tip to AMW led to Morris' capture in February 2003, making him Capture #744.
Robert Fisher (Full segment) - Wanted out of Scottsdale, Arizona, for killing his wife and two children, then rigging their house to explode. Fisher was apparently having marital problems, which investigators believe may have been the catalyst for the crime. He was named to the FBI's Ten Most Wanted List weeks after this profile. Still at large
Luis Acosta (Full segment) - Ed Miller reports from New York City on a violent rape suspect on the run. Known as the "Plumber Rapist," Luis Acosta allegedly posed as a plumber to gain entry into homes and then raped the women who lived there. After 16 rapes over four years, police caught Acosta after a victim worked with police to lure him in. But after his arrest, Acosta escaped from jail after being left alone in an interrogation room. Acosta was brought back into custody after he was indirectly caught in November 2002.
Elizabeth Smart (Breaking news, approx. 2 minutes) - Officials and volunteers in Salt Lake City were on a desperate search for 14-year-old Elizabeth Smart, who was kidnapped from her own bedroom three days earlier. Nine months after being kidnapped, AMW tips led to Elizabeth's recovery just miles from her home. She was the 36th missing child recovered by AMW.

Anthony Carter Capture (Full segment) - Rick Segall reports that one of AMW's strangest fugitives has been captured thanks to viewer tips. Though many tips came in to AMW's hotline Saturday night, none of them panned out. But on Sunday, a man in Iowa City, Iowa went to a convenience store to pick up a sandwich, and while he was sitting in his car, he saw Carter walk right into the convenience store. The tipster immediately called police and Carter was arrested, making him Capture #710.

Boris Graham (Full segment) - Tom Morris reports from California on a brutal crime. Two masked men followed a man home, beat him up and locked him in his own trunk. As they were burglarizing the house, the man's wife called police. A high-speed chase ensued and ended in a firey crash, ejecting the man from the trunk. He died two days later from his injuries. The suspects initially got away, but a few months later one suspect, Kirel Taylor, was arrested. After he was convicted, Taylor gave up his accomplice; Boris Graham, who was still at large. Graham was captured in January 2004 thanks to an AMW tip, making him Capture #778.
(commercial break)
Jaime and Javier Borbon (Full segment) - Brothers wanted out of the Los Angeles suburbs for kidnapping a 17-year-old man, then taking him to Mexico where they held him ransom. The brothers, alleged Mexican hitmen, were trying to get money from the man's father, who owed a drug debt. After a month of negotiations, the ransom drop was arranged in Tijuana, but because of traffic, it wasn't delivered on time and the Borbons allegedly killed their hostage. He was shot 16 times. In 2004, it was discovered that Jaime Borbon was killed in Mexico three years earlier. Javier Borbon is still at large.

Steven Arthur (Break-Four Tease) - Wanted for molesting several children that his wife was babysitting. Arthur was indirectly captured sometime in 2003/2004, but his capture report was never uploaded to amw.com
(commercial break continues)
Kenneth Wurdemann, John Wurdemann, Jeremy Sanchez and Sarah Pearce Capture (Full segment) - A year and a half after AMW aired the case of a woman brutally beaten on a highway, four suspects have been captured. In 2000, Linda Lebrane was forced off the road by three men and a woman who were demanding money. They stabbed and slashed Linda several times and then beat her before setting her car on fire and leaving. Linda survived thanks to a couple Good Samaritans who found her; she developed sketches of the four suspects. In early 2002, a woman came forward and identified three of the four suspects as Kenneth Wurdemann, John Wurdemann and Jeremy Sanchez. The woman was soon identified as Sarah Pearce. All four were quickly rounded up and charged with the assault on Linda Lebrane.
Episode notes: - This episode was filmed in San Francisco.
- John Walsh names Robert Fisher his Public Enemy #1 in this episode. Though on-air, John would name other fugitives to this dubious title, when amw.com was redesigned in 2004, Fisher was named the show's permanent Public Enemy #1 (except for a brief time in 2007).
- On a personal note, I've been past the Kum & Go where Anthony Carter was spotted countless times. It's right in downtown Iowa City, not far from the University of Iowa campus.
- Tom Morris seems to imply that Kirel Taylor's arrest was a result of AMW, but the show never took credit for his capture.
- The Boris Graham case is one of a few AMW cases that was initially profiled as an unknown fugitive case, then profiled after the suspects were identified. He and Taylor were first profiled on April 3, 1999 as the Unknown Christopher Rawlings Killers.
- There's been some controversy over the past couple years with Sarah Pearce, who was convicted of the assault on Linda Lebrane. Apparently, Pearce's description does not match that of the original description of Linda's attacker. This is something I actually picked up on when I first saw this case; the woman in the reenactment playing the woman is clearly darker-skinned, but Pearce is white. Here's something even more interesting; none of the male suspects ever gave up the name of their female accomplice, but they gave up each other. I definitely think there are some odd discrepancies in this case that should be looked at.
Episode #680 - June 15, 2002 Larry Woods (COPS Credits) - Indiana fugitive wanted for escaping from prison, where he was serving 111 years for killing his boss. Woods escaped by hiding in the prison's trash. Still at large
Elizabeth Smart (Full segment, Part One) - AMW gives an in-depth look into the search for 14-year-old Elizabeth Smart, who was abducted from her own bedroom a week and a half earlier. Volunteers have been searching the area around the Smart family home and following up on hundreds of leads that have come in. Searchers reported seeing a suspicious man digging a hole, but when they got closer, the man fired shots at them. No shell casings were ever found. Police announce they are looking for drifter Bret Edmunds for questioning, as his car was seen in the area of Elizabeth's home shortly after her disappearance. Edmunds was located a week after this profile in West Virginia, and he was soon cleared in the case.
Elizabeth Smart (Full segment, Part Two) - Rick Segall delves into the Elizabeth Smart investigation to get a better picture of what might have happened to the abducted teen. Chief Rick Dinse said he believes the abductor knew Elizabeth and an FBI profiler agrees with him. The profiler believes that the kidnapper was infatuated with Elizabeth, which is why he abducted her and not Mary Katherine, Elizabeth's sister. Theories about what might have happened to Elizabeth are also brought up, including the fact she may be deceased. As we all learned nine months later, Elizabeth was very much alive, and thanks to an AMW tip, Elizabeth was safely recovered. Her abductors, Brian Mitchell and Wanda Barzee, were arrested as well.

Unknown Finer Diamonds Robber (Full segment) - In 2001, Ohio jewelry store Finer Diamonds was robbed by a gang. They rounded the employees into the back room of the store. A caller on the phone with the store called police after hearing the robbers come in. After realizing they'd been made, the robbers decided to take Alan Finer, the store's owner, hostage. Thinking on his feet, Alan jumped out of the car before they could flee. During the escape, one of the robbers pointed a gun at a responding officer. The robbers didn't pull the trigger, and soon three officers begin chasing the suspects. But after speeding through an intersection, the escape vehicle crashed into a telephone pole, sending one of the robbers through the windshield. The two robbers were arrested and convicted of robbery. After the robbery, Alan decided to install a new security system, but the day before the system was installed, the unthinkable happened again; a well-dressed man who had been in the store previously pulled out a gun and demanded jewels. Officers wanted to identify the suspect who got away. Still at large, and it's likely the statute of limitations has expired on this case.

Richard Goldberg (All-Points Bulletin) - Long Beach, California police were seeking Richard Goldberg for molesting at least six children. Goldberg, who had just been named to the FBI's Ten Most Wanted List, would prey on single mothers and offer to babysit their children, then he allegedly molested them. Goldberg was discovered after two kids he was babysitting found naked photos of some friends on his computer. Goldberg fled, but was captured in 2007 after telling someone he was wanted by the FBI.
Adolfo Sanchez (All-Points Bulletin) - Fugitive from Wheeling, Illinois who allegedly shot and killed his ex-fiancee at her job as a live-in babysitter. Sanchez allegedly killed her for breaking off their engagement. Police believed he fled to Milwaukee, where his car was found abandoned. Sanchez was located in Mexico in 2006, where he was killed in a shootout with police.
Unknown Fran Jones Killers (All-Points Bulletin) - Unidentified fugitives wanted out of Cleveland, Ohio, for shooting and killing a woman during a burglary. The victim, Fran Jones, was a well-known community volunteer who worked with many different causes. She was most well-known for work at a hotline for people who had been ripped off. Still unsolved

David Kendrick (Full segment) - Starting in April 2001, a robbery crew began hitting Boston small businesses and robbing them. They were suspected of committing more than 55 robberies in one year. In October 2001, the gang hit their biggest target; a charter bus heading to a casino in Connecticut. Soon everybody in the gang was arrested except for David Kendrick, the reputed ringleader. Kendrick was captured sometime in 2003 or 2004, but his capture report was never uploaded to amw.com

Cruz Soria Gonzalez (Break Four Tease) - Wanted out of Utah for shooting a man to death after a fight. For some reason, Gonzalez was never uploaded to amw.com (not even the old site). He's apparently still at large.

Costa Rican Child Prostitutes Feature and Unknown Costa Rican Child Prostitutes Killer (Full segment) - AMW cameras travel to Central America where they expose a horrible crime; children working as prostitutes. They discover that these children aren't even trying to hide; they openly admit who they are, and soon discover that some don't even know basic facts about themselves. Their biggest customers are Americans. In February 2000, a 12-year-old prostitute named Ivette Badilla was found dismembered throughout San Jose. At the same time, the dismembered remains of another underage prostitute, Jackeline Rodriguez, were also found throughout San Jose. Police believed the murders were committed by the same person. As far as I can tell, the Costa Rican child prostitute case is still unsolved.
Arthur Kanev (Brief, approx. 2 minutes) - American dentist wanted out of Costa Rica for drugging an underage child, raping her and taking photos of the sexual assault. Kanev was arrested, but bonded out and disappeared. Thanks to an AMW tip, Kanev was arrested in Florida in July 2003, making him Capture #756.
Episode notes: - This episode was filmed in Washington, DC.
- During the intro, clips of Polly Klaas, who was abducted from her own bedroom in 1993 and later found murdered, are shown as Don LaFontaine describes how nearly a decade later, the same crime has happened again. He tells viewers that they can rewrite the ending. He had no clue how right he was.
- This episode features a rare two-segment case that isn't interrupted by a commercial.
- Now that Elizabeth Smart has been recovered, watching this segment again is really eerie. It's freaky how most of what the FBI profiler said ended up being true.
- John Walsh issues a viewer warning before the child prostitutes story.
- Despite being a wanted case on amw.com (under "Unknown Ivette Badilla Killer") the show never mentions that Costa Rican authorities were seeking the killer.
- Oddly, there's a ton of evidence that AMW had no still photos of Arthur Kanev. When John Walsh does his "If you know where Arthur Kanev is, call 1-800-CRIME-TV" spiel, he does it over a videotaped interview with the fugitive. Likewise, his photo on amw.com was clearly taken off a TV screen; it's from his interview with the ABC show "20/20." I'm a bit puzzled as to why he had no still photos of himself, but obviously it didn't prevent him from getting caught.
Episode #681 - June 22, 2002 Anibal Mustelier (Full segment) - Wanted out of South Florida for committing two crimes in the 90s. First, he tried killing the same man twice - once by shooting him and once by trying to blow him up - and failed both times. He then resurfaced in 1996 where he masterminded a bank robbery. Mustelier used his accomplice's girlfriend to help knock out surveillance cameras and get other bank employees out while others broke into safe deposit boxes to steal jewelry. Police quickly figured out everyone involved, but Mustelier got away. He was arrested in 2016 after he unbelievably started robbing jewelry stores. In 2020, Mustelier died in prison.
Unknown O.C. Smith Attacker (Full segment) - John Turchin travels to Nashville to try and solve a bizarre crime. Dr. O.C. Smith, the Shelby County medical examiner, had received numerous threats following his testimony at a clemency hearing. One night, as he headed home from his office, someone threw an unknown chemical in his face, tied up the doctor with barbed wire and strapped a bomb to his chest. Smith stayed there for hours until a security guard spotted him and called the bomb squad, saving Smith's life. Two years after this profile, federal prosecutors charged Smith in connection with his own case - they claimed he had masterminded the entire incident, though the charges were later dropped after a hung jury. Smith later died in 2019.

Unknown Janette Piro Killer and Chris Benedetto (Full segment) - Police in Singer Island, Florida, were trying to solve two mysteries; the murder of a woman and the disappearance of her husband. Janette Piro and Chris Benedetto were first reported missing when they failed to show up for a prior commitment. After Chris' brothers, New York Police officers, came to investigate, they discovered Janette's body stuffed in a bait freezer in a house. Chris had never been located, and investigators were wondering if he was another missing person or if he was the killer. A year after this profile, investigators charged Michael Koblan, Chris' brother-in-law, with killing the couple. Koblan was convicted, but died in prison of a heart attack not long after.
(commercial break)
Elizabeth Smart (Brief, approx. 2 minutes) - After the previous week's show, Bret Edmunds, who was wanted for questioning in the disappearance of 14-year-old Elizabeth Smart, was located in a West Virginia hospital. Police questioned Edmunds and soon learned he had nothing to do with the teen's disappearance. Elizabeth was recovered alive thanks to an AMW tip nine months after her abduction.
William Bradford Bishop (Full segment) - Wanted out of Maryland for killing his entire family in the 70s; his wife, mother and three sons. Police believe Bishop, who had long struggled with depression, may have killed his family because he was upset over not receiving a promotion within the U.S. State Department. Bishop allegedly drove the bodies to North Carolina where he set them on fire. Still at large
(commercial break)
Bert Mercer (Full segment) - Louisiana investigators were still seeking information on Bert Mercer, charged with killing three women over the Mother's Day weekend in Shreveport. The victims included Mercer's estranged wife. The latest tips indicated that Mercer was in Texas. The path suggested that Mercer was planning on fleeing to Mexico. Turns out he was, but just before he entered the country, Mercer decided to turn himself in.
(commercial break)
Edwin Rodriguez (Break Four Tease) - Wanted out of Illinois for the murder of his girlfriend. Still at large
(commercial break continues)
Four-Legged Heroes Feature (Full segment) - Jon Du Pre travels to Pocatello, Idaho, to tell the story of a hero police dog. The dog, Kai, was called to respond to help corral a disturbed man with a gun on a highway. Kai went after the man, but although the dog was able to stop the man, it wasn't without injury; the man shot Kai, who later died from his injuries. In the years following the shooting, several school children across the country began raising money for bulletproof vests for police dogs. Two of the children are featured in this segment.
Episode notes: - This episode was filmed in Washington, DC.
- This episode would later be reran on May 31, 2003.
- Jon Du Pre is an on-air TV reporter who has worked in Green Bay, Salt Lake City, Boston, Phoenix and Los Angeles. I don't know what he was doing at the time this episode aired, but today he is an anchor for KUSI in San Diego. This is his only work for AMW, as far as I can tell.
Episode #682 - June 29, 2002 James "Rick" Johnson (Full segment) - Alameda, California fugitive wanted for masterminding an elaborate jewelry store heist at a location owned by two of his friends. The heist took months to plan, but when it was actually executed, it ended up being a bust. Everybody was rounded up except for Johnson. He was eventually arrested in Washington state after he shoplifted the tip jar from a drive-through coffee stand.
(commercial break)
Elizabeth Smart (Full segment) - Ed Miller reports that Salt Lake City police have a major new clue in the disappearance of 14-year-old Elizabeth Smart. Richard Ricci, a handyman who had done some work for the Smart family, and who had stolen from the family, was being looked at as a potential suspect. His alibi was apparently suspicious, and several hundred miles mysteriously appeared on Ricci's vehicle in the days after Elizabeth's disappearance. Ricci denied his involvement, and he eventually died of a brain aneurism just months after his arrest. It turned out that Ricci had nothing to do with the disappearance; when Elizabeth was safely recovered a year later, she was in the company of Brian Mitchell and his wife, Wanda Barzee.
Unknown Janette Piro Killer and Chris Benedetto (Full segment) - John Turchin updates viewers on a case that had been profiled just a week earlier. Janette Piro was found dead in a bait freezer in her home, while her husband, Chris Benedetto, was missing. Investigators weren't sure if Chris was a suspect or a victim, but after the case was profiled the previous week, several solid tips came in. As a result of those tips, investigators were convinced that Chris was, in fact, a victim. Michael Koblan, Chris Benedetto's brother-in-law, was arrested a year later for the murders of both Janette and Chris, even though Chris' body has never been found. Koblan later died in prison after he was convicted of the murders.

Bert Mercer Capture (Brief, approx. 1 minute) - Just a week after AMW updated viewers on alleged mass murderer Bert Mercer, the suspect turned himself in to police in Texas. Investigators long believed that Mercer was heading to Mexico; apparently he was, but he ran out of money. Instead of fleeing the country, Mercer turned himself in just steps from the U.S./Mexico border.
Robert Fisher (Full segment) - The FBI has announced the newest addition to their Ten Most Wanted List; Robert Fisher. AMW has been profiling Fisher for almost a year. He's wanted out of Scottsdale, Arizona, for the murders of his wife and two children, then rigging their house to explode. Fisher's SUV was found abandoned in a national park hours away, but Fisher was gone. Still at large

Unknown Stockton K-Mart Robbers (Brief, approx. 2 minutes) - Two suspects are being sought for a violent robbery at a California K-Mart. The unidentified pair walked into the store and savagely smashed the manager's face before stealing the money. After they left, the suspects began shooting for no apparent reason. Thankfully nobody was hurt. Still at large, as far as I can tell, and I suspect the statute of limitations has expired on this case.
Victor Garcia (Full segment) - Teenager wanted out of Costa Mesa, California, for a mysterious murder. On the night of his daughter's birth, Garcia went out to a park to celebrate with his friends. While out drinking alcohol, Garcia encountered a 15-year-old girl, who was also out with friends. At one point the two ended up alone and Garcia beat the teen to death. Police believe Garcia, while drunk, got upset for some reason and killed her. Garcia was captured sometime in 2004, but his capture report was never uploaded to amw.com
(commercial break)
Adrian Contreras (Break Four Tease) - Wanted for killing a man because the victim claimed to be a better dancer than Contreras was. Contreras was captured sometime in 2003/2004, but his capture report was never uploaded to amw.com, and I read somewhere that Contreras was acquitted of his crime.
(commercial break continues)
Unknown Samantha Jaume Killer (Full segment) - Subject wanted for the murder of a mother of four from the New Orleans suburbs on the Fourth of July 2001. When Samantha Jaume came home from grocery shopping, an unknown male held a gun to her and demanded the keys to her car. When Samantha couldn't find them, the man shot her to death in front of one of her children. Her son called 911 and alerted police to what was happening, saving him and his siblings. In September 2003, four people, including Dominic Robinson, were arrested in connection with Samantha's murder. Robinson was already serving more than 100 years in prison for another murder he'd committed.
Episode notes: - This episode was filmed in Los Angeles.
- This was the first episode since March to feature a fugitive recap. The cases recapped are the following: James "Rick" Johnson, Elizabeth Smart, Robert Fisher, Victor Garcia, Unknown Janette Piro Killer and Chris Benedetto, and Unknown Samantha Jaume Killer.
- After James "Rick" Johnson's story, John Walsh mentions that the show got a tip after Johnson's last profile saying he might have been washing windows near Seattle. Given that Johnson was captured in Washington state, that tip was probably more accurate than people realized.
Next month on AMW: July 13, 2002 - John Walsh travels to the Secret Service Training Center to learn about the secrets of the Secret Service. At one point John takes a look at some of the guns confiscated by the Secret Service, including one belonging to Elvis Presley. - 15 years after he allegedly put a hit out on his wife, James Sullivan has finally been captured. Rick Segall tells viewers how their tips led to this longtime fugitive finally being foiled on the other side of the world. - For years, AMW has been looking for the unknown person that killed two sisters and a sixteen-year-old girl in Virginia. Now, thanks to the help of a courageous teenager, that case may have been solved; find out how 15-year-old "Brittany" helped lead investigators to Richard Evonitz, who may have been keeping a dark secret for years.
July 27, 2002 (NOTE: I have only seen this episode once, but I still plan on analyzing what happened, based on my memory of this 13-year-old episode) - Halfway through 2002, missing children cases have been all over the news; some with happy endings and some with tragic endings. Help John Walsh bring several missing children home as he visits with a new program that helps train kids to keep themselves safe. - New York City police are looking for Andre Neverson, who they say killed his girlfriend and his own sister. Listen to the clues and see if you can help track down this mysterious killer, who investigators believe might still be hiding out in Brooklyn. - Months after AMW aired the murder of a woman hoping to become a soap opera star, police believe they have their killers. Ed Miller updates viewers on the murder case of Adriana Pinon.
August 3, 2002 - John Walsh heads to the Kansas City area to profile some cases from both Kansas and Missouri. One case he really wants to see solved is the tragic murder of Ali Kemp, a lifeguard at a Kansas pool who was found dead by her father while at work. - In May, AMW aired the case of William Severs, wanted out of New Jersey for killing his ex-girlfriend. Thanks to viewer tips, investigators are hot on the suspected killer's trail. Rick Segall hits the road to follow the tips to see if he can find Severs. - Multiple law enforcement agencies in Missouri have teamed up to try and catch a potential serial killer. Throughout the 90s, dozens of prostitutes have been found dead in the Missouri River. Police have precious few clues in a case that they desperately want to solve.
August 10, 2002 - AMW revisits some of the strangest cases that, while odd, are completely true. Among them, the case of an accused killer who lit himself on fire to try and escape from police. It didn't work, but now Antonio Delacruz is a fugitive that needs to be caught. - After AMW profiled accused killer Dudley Forbes in 1996, a solid tip came in placing the Canadian fugitive in Providence, Rhode Island. But when police went to arrest him, Forbes led officers on a high-speed chase. Thankfully cops caught up to him, but what they discovered after the chase shocked everybody. - While tonight AMW is going after strange fugitives, sometimes captures are even stranger than the cases. Cases highlighted include a fugitive identified just by the way the actor portrayed him, a fugitive who contacted HBO after his AMW profile to see if they wanted to make a movie about him, and even one fugitive who cooked John Walsh dinner.
August 17, 2002 - AMW honors law enforcement by featuring some of the toughest cops in the nation and going after their toughest cases. They include the California sheriff's deputy who was shot at by a teenage drug dealer and lived to not only tell the tale, but track down the person who shot him. - When body parts are found in New Jersey and New York, two police agencies team up to find out what happened. Working together, they slowly piece together (no pun intended) their case, culminating with warrants being issued for two men in connection with the brutal murders. - In Atlanta, a police detective investigates a murder that hits way too close to home for him. The detective takes the murder of William Hill personally, because the officer's brother was permanently paralyzed at the exact same location years earlier while investigating a robbery. Help the investigator find the men who killed this armored car guard before they strike again.
August 24, 2002 - There's an urgent need for information in a horrifying crime out of Virginia; a couple has been murdered, and even more shocking, their nine-year-old daughter has gone missing. Who could have wanted to target the family of Mary, Michael and Jennifer Short? Police want to know. - As the one year anniversary of September 11, 2001 approaches, John Walsh seeks justice for a family who played a small role in the building of the World Trade Center. Michael Cerullo, a New Jersey textile plant owner, was found shot to death at his own business. When police began digging, they discover the shocking identity of the person they believe killed the man - his co-worker and best friend. - For two years, retired Detective Joe Matthews has been digging for clues in the murder of Jason McMann, who was found badly beaten in the woods near Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. Nobody was saying anything, and rumors swirled that the football team got away with the murder. But thanks to Joe's investigative work, the case was broken wide open, and two men are now facing charges in Jason's death.
August 31, 2002 - Six years after three children were murdered in Virginia, police have finally closed the case. Thanks to a brave teen from South Carolina, Richard Evonitz has been identified as the suspect in the murders of Kristin and Kati Lisk and Sofia Silva. But there's still work that needs to be done - investigators need to know where Evonitz, who committed suicide, had traveled over the past six years. - When a man named Roger Boisvert was gunned down in Los Angeles, it set off an effort from three countries to find his killer. Roger, who was born in Canada, spent much of his life in Japan, where he is remembered as someone who helped that country's internet up to speed. Help the U.S., Canada and Japan try to find the man who took Roger's life. - Investigators in Indiana thought they had a suspect in the disappearance of Jill Behrman, but they needed some way to keep the suspect in jail while the investigation continued. When a newspaper reporter disobeyed police requests and printed the story anyway, it ended up providing the break they needed.
I'm aiming to have the July/August episodes done by next weekend.
