I think you mean the officer, and now the cabin is engulfed in flames after the swat team moved in. This is crazy....

Can't say right now. They threw tear gas went in and no one really knows what exactly caused the fire. It's best to just watch/listen this unfold before speculating. Looks like your prediction of "going down in a blaze of glory" was prophetic though. I expected him to die in a shootout or kill himself, but he literally may go down in flames!

A few more thoughts:
-I hate that another officer had to die, but I'm glad it's over. Dorner could have started a Facebook campaign, went to the media, etc. He chose to kill not only officers but family members that had nothing to do with his claims. He chose to shoot at officers, killing one, that tried to apprehend him that he didn't personally know and had no grievances with. He chose to tie up an innocent couple, which although they didn't die, the terror they went through is something I wouldn't wish upon anybody. There were plenty of other ways he could have got his message across. He chose to kill people. I hope he's burning in hell.
-I hate to appease the guy but I hope the LAPD keeps their word and continues looking into the racism and corruption allegations, just so they can re-affirm to everybody they are fair. Yes, they had their problems in the past, and perhaps some still won't be satisfied if the LAPD still finds no wrong-doing, but to show they are trying to do well is a nice gesture the past is the past.
-This is kind-off topic but the search has me concerned for the chances of capturing Dan Hiers and other ex-cop fugitives. I know Dorner's saga ended quickly, but look how much it took. They practically had to make the him front-page news along with a 1 million dollar reward to get this guy. And he still did not go out quietly. If Dorner didn't get the media attention he did, it may have been so much harder to apprehend him.

Wonder if he lit himself or if the tear gas triggered the fire

Without speculating too much it seems the fire was as a result of the tear gas and Dormer was at some point killed or killed himself during the shootout/standoff. They still need to confirm the body is his even though it obviously is a la Roy Parmley/Beacher Hackney.
