Also we brought him up recently like during the early morning hours like wow. I'm glad he's caught but I would have never thought Spain would be the place he'd be arrested.

This is AMAZING news! And if convicted, I hope the Judge throws the book at him. What really pisses me off about this case is how reasonable the Angel family was and how callous and uncaring the entire Ponce family seemed to be. It never had to come to this. Ponce could have accepted rehab and done a reduced sentence based on williamsdad and everyone else's request. He chose to go on the run. His family chose to at the very least not help in any way in his apprehension- So for that, no leniency, no excuses. He needs to be taught a lesson. Williamsdad if you come across this forum- congratulations on all the hard work you did on catching Ponce finally paying off. I'm still so sorry for the loss of your son and realize this doesn't bring William back. But at least now finally Chris Ponce will be held accountable for his reckless actions that lead to William's death. I agree 100% with you. Very seldom do you see the kind of mercy the Angel family was willing to show to Ponce and his family and he threw it all away. I hope when he is rotting in prison for the next 15-25 years (what he faces for all the charges) that he and his worthless family think about that.

I thought he'd be caught in a Spanish speaking area, but was thinking like Mexico or Puerto Rico (which is a U.S. territory). I agreed with you I didn't think he was in Cuba, but I still feared what if he fled there since his family is from there. It's rare we see fugitives captured in Spain but nice to see in this case.

As I've stated on another thread, I thought he was possibly still in the states and yes I've been proven wrong today which makes it good since he's caught. So he's the 3rd fugitive captured/surrendered from season 1

Another article is saying someone noticed him acting weird at the bus stop and that's when he showed his forged Mexican passport and a bus pass with someone else's name. The article says it seems likely he initially fled to Mexico so can I get partial credit? LOL. This is the thing that I never got about Ponce was no matter well he was hiding and/or being hidden- how he managed to not get arrested as a result of his continuous stupid actions. He didn't seem like the guy who was going to stop drinking and/or getting into trouble just because he was on the run. It seems his behavior finally caught up with him: www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/08/10/killer-drunk-driver-on-the-run-caught-in-spain-with-mexican-passport.html

John Walsh mentioned Ponce's capture on his Twitter page (Not to whine on great news but for some reason Twitter links don't work on this forum so just go to his official page and you'll see it ).

John Walsh was on CNN tonight where he talked about the capture. I think he said what we all felt in that this punk never should have been given bond when the test results came back and should have been locked up and sent to prison a long time ago. I will also say this, I was looking up crashes in that area and came across this article about another young man who drank and drove and killed a 18 year old girl. www.tbo.com/lifestyle/life-and-death-redemption-hinge-on-sobering-decisions-358015 www.tbo.com/news/drunken-driver-finds-redemption-redirection-357512 In that case, the young man took advantage of the forgiveness and gift he was given (only nine months in jail) and now works to help others recover from their addictions while also sharing his story in the hopes others won't make the choices he did. Ponce could have done the same thing and instead he took the gift of forgiveness the Angels were willing to give to him and threw it away. As one of his surviving victims stated, Ponce better have enjoyed his vacation, as the next time he will likely see freedom again is when he's in his 50's.

Everyone kept telling Ponce to surrender to help his chances at a lighter sentence. He chose to ignore the advice.

Everyone kept telling Ponce to surrender to help his chances at a lighter sentence. He chose to ignore the advice. Him and his parents, whom no doubt helped him stay on the run. Just like everything else he had done in his life, his parents protected him from facing consequences for his actions and in doing so, ensured that the next 20-25 years of his life will be spent in prison. Maybe while he's there he'll finally take responsibility for his actions and realize how badly he screwed up but I won't hold my breath for that.

While I hope he proves me wrong, I also doubt he will change if and when he gets out of prison.

While I hope he proves me wrong, I also doubt he will change if and when he gets out of prison. People like him usually don't change and if he had gotten probation, I don't think he would have lasted long at all. Prison is the only place for him and hopefully we'll see that soon.

I can't believe I forgot to ask but did John Walsh take credit and/or say Ponce's capture was a direct result of The Hunt? Right now it appears to be an indirect capture and the result of an alert Spanish citizen noticing something seemed odd about the guy at the bus stop not knowing he was Ponce, but I still want to hold out some hope.

A couple of updates, Ponce was specifically captured in the city of Almeria in the Andalusia region of Spain. And we also now know that when he noticed the police, he attempted to sidle away towards the toilets. There's some sort of metaphor here I feel although you can feel free to use your own imagination as to what that metaphor is. www.thelocal.es/20160811/spain-arrests-american-drunk-driving-chris-ponceAlso, this shouldn't come as entirely a surprise but this case isn't exactly over as Wade Angel wants additional prosecutions if it turns out Ponce received help in facilitating his escape. (And I'd like to ask- how exactly did he get that fake Passport bus pass etc.. and how exactly did he get to Spain? Yes, I know he technically had jobs in the past but wasn't he on house arrest leading up to escape. Where'd he get the money from? And by the way- legally I'm allowed to simply ask those questions. I never directly said anyone's name or directly accused anyone. They're just questions I'd like answered.) www.abcactionnews.com/news/region-tampa/impaired-wrong-way-driver-christopher-ponce-located-and-arrested-in-spain

Just wanted to mention the Hunt will be replaying the Chris Ponce episode tomorrow night at 8 PM ET/PT where I'm sure they'll now update at the end that he was captured.
