To protect his identity, we'll call him Arthur Davis. Arthur told investigators that someone was knocking at his back screen porch door. When Arthur went to check, the man at the door identified himself as a Sheriff's Deputy and flashed a silver badge in a billfold. When Arthur let the man inside, he was immediately attacked and the man held a gun to his head. Arthur says the man demanded money and ultimately stole Arthur's cash and all of his prescription medication. Because Arthur has medical issues, he has a lot of prescription drugs, including Oxycodone. When the fake cop took off, neighbors say he drove away in an older model white car. Detectives eventually linked the car to Eddy Connor and named him as the man who robbed Arthur Davis. Connor has several nicknames and aliases, including "Smoke," "Rock," "David Supenski," "Jeffrey Funk," and "David Zalewski." He's described as a well-built, muscular white male, with mixed dark and gray hair, in his late forties. web.archive.org/web/20120530072427/http://www.amw.com/fugitives/brief.cfm?id=80071news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1346&dat=19790215&id=wm1NAAAAIBAJ&sjid=5foDAAAAIBAJ&pg=3628,4438606 fpc.state.fl.us/docs/reports/monthlyAccomplishments/2011/dragofpcaccomplish-JULY-AUG2011.pdfThoughts? Connor aired as the first full-profile on the May 25th, 2012 episode of AMW on Lifetime, is the very definition of a career criminal, with articles on the internet dating all the way back to 1979 when he was only 21 years old which mention a conviction from when he was only 19! (If it helps another aliases of his from the 1970's was Larry Albert Tiner). His possible locations are listed as Florida, Georgia, Michigan, and Wyoming. Another item I found on the web mentions he absconded from a lifetime of supervised parole in Wyoming in 2009 before the attack on "Arthur Davis" 2 years later. Despite being described as appearing to be in his late 40's, Connor was actually 54 at the time of his AMW profile, indicating he likely looks young for his age. I think the trick to catching Connor is he as an experienced enough criminal to know the basics to stay on the run- he obviously has no trouble creating fake identifications for himself. However, in my opinion, what will finally get him is the fact that he is a lifetime criminal. If he's been committing crimes since a teenager up to his fifties, I see no reason why he would stop now. And the more crimes you commit, the more likelihood you will eventually get caught. One thing I find interesting is the mention he has a swastika tattoo, making me wonder if it's possible he's staying on the run by hiding with white supremacists. In any case, besides the approved residence in Wyoming for parole, he seems to have made his mark in Florida for practically his entire life, and did go back there. My personal feeling is he's still in the Sunshine state somewhere despite the AMW pressure. He's a "savvy" enough criminal that he probably feels capable hiding in plain sight. At the end of his AMW profile it was mentioned that one of his aliases was of a man who two weeks before Eddy attacked Arthur, was found dead. Although that death was ruled a suicide (I think), John Walsh still found that to be interesting. I actually think Eddy could really be anywhere in the US and has most likely altered his appearance. But this is a fugitive who won't stop committing crimes, which I agree will probably do him in.

David Zalewski was the name he was using in the re-enactment and the man who was found to have killed himself. According to mugshots.com, Connor has been arrested in the past under the name Jeffrey L Funk. There are also of course multiple spellings of his supposed real name with different variations of "Eddy" and "Eddie" and "Connor" and "Conner" that I've found on there. Mugshots.com also lists David Carr as an alias. (Ironically that's the same name as a former NFL Quarterback) He has so many fake names who knows what he's using now. mugshots.com/US-Counties/Florida/Miami-Dade-County-FL/Jeffrey-L-Funk.1958270.html

Update: Eddy Connor killed in a shootout with a Tennessee home owner of a house he tried to break into in Cottonwood, Tennessee. Unfortunately, the homeowner was also killed. (He was also a suspect in a nearby bank robbery.) I was told not to make them public but this sadly doesn't surprise me since I've received information on other things Connor might be involved with just in just the past year (sorry for the ominous wording but I was advised by the police source I contacted about that information to keep things private so I have to respect that and not go further than that) that indicated to me that this was a much more serious fugitive than even the charges on AMW made him out to be. I'm glad Connor's no longer a threat to the public, but saddened it took the death of a home owner for that to happen. fox17.com/news/local/bank-robber-killed-in-cottontown-shootout-was-subject-of-americas-most-wanted-episode

It is always right to say that regardless of what the charges are, all fugitives should be considered dangerous and a threat to kill or harm other people while on the run. Eddy Connor decided to go out the same way as he started his adulthood, as a criminal who just didn't care about the lives of innocent people, and I say good riddance to him. I am so sorry for the family of his victim in Tennessee for their horrific loss.

I want to stress Eddy Connor already had very serious charges just based on what anybody from AMW knew- pretending to be a cop and beating an elderly man is pretty scary.
Just that as bad as that was, there's even more to this story. (Which once again I can't discuss since it involves an ongoing investigation).

I am a relative of this man through marriage...It is mentioned his wave of crime started when he was 19. This is untrue. At 16yrs old he killed my husbands father, Eddy's own brother in law-which he apparently considered a dear friend and family. At that time it was believed it was self-defense...my husbands father, whom many have simply forgot, was named Edward 'Shakey' Kauffman. Apparently, Shakey caught Eddy stealing merchandise out of his car and proceeded to 'teach him a lesson' and began beating up young Eddy. Well, conveniently, Eddy pulled out his knife and stabbed his sisters husband, his toddler nephew daddy, deep in his heart-killing him. And deemed it 'self-defense.' He served a short time&upon his release, he continued his reign of terror. Beating up and robbing defenseless elderly ppl and probably killing and terrorizing more than we will ever know. Through all of the recent news of his death, ive noticed they recount all his past crimes and the terror he inflicted on people. And one story even mentions he had been in trouble with law in one way or another since the age of 19. I felt compelled to write after reading this. A wonderful young man lost his life to him before he could fully enjoy his life and there is no mention of this. A woman was a widow before the age of 20, a young boy was fatherless at only 2 yrs of age--he has no memory of his father. Knows only that his uncle killed him. Not that his Daddy loved him, was beaming with pride the day he was born and was looking forward to teaching his young son to talk, throw a ball, teach him right from wrong. Yes Shakey Kauffman was very much looking forward to watching his young son grow up....but his own wifes brother took that from him. And through all the horrors that Eddy Conner left behind him as he terrorized the nation, through all the news coverage of his bank robbery and death, his prior crimes 'from 19yrs on...' there is no mention of the first life he took. No mention of how he destroyed his own family. Broke his sisters heart of her happily ever after and his nephew chance at a normal childhood, leaving him with absolutely NO memory of the Daddy who loved him so, the Daddy he never knew....so when one decided to research this monster...start at the BEGINNING. Had it been 'self defense' wouldnt he have tried to repent? Try to be there for his sister and nephew? NO, he walked out of prison and picked up where he left off and laughing all way knowing he got away with it.

Hi mjmk, welcome to the forum. I am so sorry for your and your family's loss and the terror Eddy Connor inflicted upon your family.
What I meant on my original posting was that reports on alleged crimes and trouble with the law that I could find on the web date back to when he was 19. What you say is the first time I have ever read or heard about this but you would obviously know better than me.
I am relieved horrible man is dead, but I am still deeply sorry that it's too late for your/Edward "Shakey" Kauffman's family, the Cottonwood homeowner's (Dale Hall's) family and for all we know possibly other families's relatives as well. And I agree that if Eddy wasn't given just slaps on the wrists from the beginning perhaps a lot of grief could have been spared.
And I know if Connor had been charged with your father-in-law's murder, charged as an adult, sentenced to life, it wouldn't have brought him back but at least would have provided a sense of justice that he didn't get away with it.

Thank you for your reply. It means a great deal to us. I just want it to be acknowledged about Edward "Shakey' Kauffman. I imagine the reasoning so few people were unaware of Eddy taking this great man from his loved ones was because he was under the age of 18. I believe had this crime occurred today and not in 1974, with forensics&crime scene reconstruction, he would have been tried as an adult and he would have been sentenced to life. I would like to believe, that would have been the end of it. Nonetheless, he DID escape from a prison at one point and whos to say that still would not have occurred? I would like to believe maybe justice could have prevailed. Still, it would have broke his mothers heart (yes, he has a mother&she is a dear, sweet woman whom unbeknownst to her gave birth to a baby boy was not well and was in fact, a monster.) thank you for sharing my post and giving Edward 'Shakey' Kauffman the respect and dignity he always deserved...and, well, just the ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of his mere existence. He was a good man who deserved so much more than he got. His widow, to this DAY-loves him w/as much passion and desire as she did the day she met him&she misses him terribly. I cannot even IMAGINE how tortured her poor soul has been through the years...the love and loyalty for her little brother wanting to believe it was an 'accident' but always pondering whether or not it was true and the love and loyalty for her true love and wanting justice, wanting someone to PAY for her broken shattered heart yet still having to 'act' like everything is ok for the sake of her confused little 2yr old boy who wants to know where Daddy is, yet knowing he is not old enough to comprehend the truth nor will he retain an memory of what a wonderful man he was. Again, thank you for helping bring his memory to the forefront.

Hi, thanks for joining. Thank you for your comment. Obviously while I'm not going to say anything if asked, I'm not going to censor any comments from people who aren't me. So while I can't confirm if the case you're referring to is the one I knew about, all I can say is I hope these two men if they were murdered are recovered for their families and so they can have proper burials. I also hope they have enough evidence to say Eddy Connor is the killer if he is in fact who killed them, albeit he'd be named posthumously. Just in case you knew either of these men, you have my condolences (I apologize if you stated this at registration as the registration messages don't stay after approval, I do remember you stating you wanted to discuss the Eddy Connor case when I approved you a few weeks ago). It's a tragic situation.
