Fugitive Profile as of November 17th, 2014 (Based on FBI.gov wanted poster): Aliases: Tim Coombs, Timothy T. Coombs, Cai Liberty, Cal Liberty, William Patterson, James Wilson, James Mason Date(s) of Birth Used: February 21, 1959; July 7, 1959 Place of Birth: Ocean County, New Jersey Height: 5'7" Weight: 140 pounds Occupations: Tree planter, Volunteer firefighter Hair: Brown, balding Eyes: Blue Sex: Male Race: White Nationality: American Remarks: When last seen, Coombs had a full beard. In the past, he has had a short trimmed beard, mustache, and wore wire-rimmed glasses. He is known to alter his appearance. Coombs reportedly maintains very radical, anti-government, white supremacist beliefs, and is associated with the Christian Identity Movement. Indicative of his extreme religious beliefs, he has been seen wearing fringe on his shirt cuffs and pants bottoms. Additionally, he has identified himself in the past as a Christian Israelite Pastor, Nazarite, Ambassador for the Kingdom of Christ, and Legal Ambassador. Coombs formerly resided in Witts Springs, Arkansas, and has close associates there and in Missouri. He also has supporters and relatives in other states. He has been observed with .45 caliber and 9 mm semiautomatic pistols that he carries in an ankle holster and in the small part of his back. Who to call if you've seen him: Local FBI field office or embassy or submit a web tip at tips.fbi.govIn 1994, AMW first aired the case of Timothy Coombs. Earlier in that year, Coombs shot and seriously wounded a Missouri State Trooper with a rifle. The Trooper had recently arrested the leader of the religious cult that Coombs had belonged to. The trooper survived but died two years later in an unrelated surgery. So a $100,000 reward was eventually offered for Coombs's apprehension, but he has been wanted for nearly 20 years and was last featured on AMW in 2004. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, a Sergent with the Missouri State Troopers believes that Coombs is dead. He also goes on to mention that he doesn't believe that Robert Joos, the cult leader who was re-arrested in 2009, is harboring Coombs. He also mentions that lack of leads over the years. I would want to add that if Coombs is currently associated with some sort of white supremacist organization, surely the FBI and Missouri authorities would have informants telling them about it? www.splcenter.org/blog/2009/06/30/arrest-of-mahon-brothers-a-reminder-of-15-year-fugitive/Admin Note: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

The reward for Coombs' capture is now $100,000. This is significant as usually that much for a fugitive is reserved to the top 10 list and most wanted terrorist list.

Coombs is one of my Dirty Dozen fugitives, and ever since I first saw him profiled, I've wanted him caught. I don't know if he's dead or not, but it's frustrating that he's still at large (especially since Robert Joos has been arrested time and again over the years).

This guy clearly is not sheltered by supporters like people just couldn't stand him, but I'm more likely thinking he's deceased in all honesty 22 years now and no sign of him should make it clear but yet who knows he may still be alive doing some blue collar work.

Coombs has become my wild card for the FBI top ten, but i wanted to bump this case since it hasnt really been discussed much.
Its hard to tell if Coombs is dead or alive but maybe he is living in the Corridor that is Missouri Tennessee or Kentucky doing some blue collar work or construction. I would think after the attack on the officer he probably ended it or his supporters are possibly keeping him company and providing him with work.
I do think if he was with a group he'd do his best to hide his identity really well becuase yes informants can get all over this and tell their superiors at the FBI that Coombs is there, IF he said that out in the open that he did what he did in 1994.

He is hiding with his group of activists. I honestly don't think he is dead but lives under a false identity and works in a rural area. He keeps his mouth shut in order not to get caught.

I don't believe Coombs is alive. Thing is, the FBI has offered a reward in this case for years (since 2004, the reward for his arrest is at $100,000). Surely, all that money would have loosened at least one pair of lips. Further, with regards to this group he is in, I think the FBI would have put enough pressure on them to the point where they would have been able to dig up some intelligence as to his whereabouts. He does have felony convictions for firearms out of CA and AR, but I think the first thing he would have done in going on the run is turn to members of the movement for help. I could also see him committing suicide: Missouri has the death penalty, and he was probably under the impression he had killed Trooper Harper and took his own life before he could face punishment.
While I doubt he is alive, I'm sure if the FBI pressed members of the movement, they may hear about what happened to Coombs (perhaps offering a reward even for his remains would help)?

I seem to think that Coombs is more likely dead than alive, but even the slim chance if he were alive, I think he would be living in New Jersey, since he was born there. Obviously in those movements, you often times have informants that are reporting back to law enforcement agencies and they perhaps would have reported that Coombs is with them, but there’s also the probability that Coombs may be with another movement or is living somewhere in the Southeastern U.S. working odd jobs.

This is very similar to the David Durham case- fugitive shoots law enforcement official, official survives, but fugitive disappears and we wonder if he died/committed suicide after the confrontation thinking the officer he shot died.
I would tend to lead towards dead as well as another aspect is even on his own Coombs doesn't seem like the type of guy who can stay out of trouble for over two decades and what will be 25 years since he disappeared next year. If he was alive, I feel he may have been caught as a result of his own doing by now.

Considering that Coombs usually carries either a .45 or a .9mm on him, and in light of his previous gun arrests, I'm sure he would have probably popped up by now on another firearm charge (and they would have his prints due to his felon status). With NJ having more strict gun laws (not that I'm directly refuting anyone on this page), I'm sure he would have already been picked up in NJ for carrying a concealed firearm.
I think Coombs was too entwined in the MO area at the time of the crime, and I think he would have had trouble residing anywhere else. The FBI has said Coombs would often wear religious clothes, as well, and he'd stick out like a sore thumb if still alive. My problem is this: He was also a white nationalist, so I doubt he would want to hide in big cities/urban areas. If he's alive, I'm guessing he would probably be in a rural area.

Am i the only one who thinks he is alive? He would be 63 now so there is a better chance he’s alive then say Eugene Palmer or Brad Bishop. I don’t necessarily agree that someone would speak up for $100K yes it’s a lot of money and while it’s nice it’s also not what it use to be i think if he would’ve killed Bob Harper then the reward might have been $1 million or more right away. Also I’m not trying to be political or judge anyone beliefs because I’m an independent but Coombs strikes me as the type of guy who would be listening to guys like Alex Jones or someone who is a big anti government/conspiracy theories Junkie etc. i even looked through photos of the January 6th riots to see if maybe someone like him was part of this but couldn’t find anything. I feel like if he is alive he is probably living in a rural area where the population is less then 5K residents where the residents are mostly elderly with little or poor internet and cell phone access he probably is under an assumed name and either already had money to live on or works as a handyman, gunsmith, craftsman or landscaper where he can be paid in cash or money order so he can deposit the money order at a post office for cash. I can totally see him living in a state like North Dakota, South Dakota or Wyoming to keep a low profile and he probably keeps his mouth shut and is somewhat of a loner but might come off as friendly to a neighbor or customers like Israel Keys did.

I'm of the opinion he's likely dead, but since I love also playing devil's advocate lol, I will say regardless of whether the 100K is incentive or not, the fact that they raised the reward to that much might indicate intel that he may be alive. And yeah I see Coombs as kind of a David Burgert-esque governmental conspiracy guy if he were alive.
