This really makes my blood boil.
On August 3rd, 2002, America's Most Wanted profiled the case searching for a then-unknown killer of 19-year-old Ali Kemp in Leawood, Kansas. Kemp was found brutally murdered in the pump room of a public pool facility where she worked.
In November 2004, Appleby was identified as Kemp's killer and arrested.
He was found guilty and sentenced to a Hard 50 sentence under Kansas law: 50 years in prison with no chance for parole until 2054.
But now Appleby argues his sentence under the Kansas Hard 50 law is illegal and must be thrown out.
He said because the factors that led to his Hard 50 were decided by a judge and not a jury, as required by an earlier U.S. Supreme Court ruling, Kansas law automatically required his sentence be modified.

All I can is I'm outraged this punk is not even trying to lie and proclaim innocence like most of these guys do but rather just trying to game the system because of a perceived technicality.
By my estimation, Appleby will be in his late 70's/early 80's if he is still alive in 2054. Quite frankly, he doesn't deserve to get out even at that age.
Ali's father Roger Kemp wanted to forget about Appleby but now has to remind the public again about Appleby's history of violence and danger to society.
The below article lists information for anyone who wants to share information about Appleby.
Hopefully this legal argument doesn't get far. As Roger Kemp rightfully pointed out, Appleby didn't care about the law when he was committing crimes against innocent citizens, but suddenly cares now that he's caught.
All I can say is f*** Appleby and I hope he never even makes it to 2054.
