BORING, Ore. – The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating the shooting death of a county employee in the unincorporated area of Boring Thursday morning. The sheriff's office said the victim was Grady Waxenfelter. Waxenfelter was a weighmaster, a worker who ensures commercial truck drivers adhere to weight limits on roads. The sheriff's office said Waxenfelter (photo below at right) started working for the county as a mechanic in 1987. He was promoted to senior mechanic in 1999 and served as a weighmaster since 2005. They say he is driving a 2004 silver four-door Mercedes Benz with Washington plates: ANB 7070. An outstanding warrant for his arrest on a weapons violation was issued in Pierce County, Wash. Police say White is armed and dangerous. And if anyone sees him, they should call 911. Police say the suspect shot Waxenfelter multiple times during an inspection of the suspect's log truck. Police checked out a place of business, O'Malley Brothers, that they say is connected to the suspect. That business is about one mile from where the shooting happened. The business is a logging and wood business. SWAT teams searched vehicles of the business but didn't find the suspect. Police say he swapped his log truck for a car at the business. Estacada schools were placed in lockdown while the sheriff's office searched for the suspect nearby. The sheriff's office earlier tweeted that deputies were investigating report of an injured officer and an officer-involved shooting. They later said a county employee was shot and killed and the case is being considered a homicide. It happened near Hwy 224 and S.E. Amisigger Road, emergency dispatchers said. Highway 224 was closed at Baker's Ferry for the investigation." Admin note: White is also wanted in Pierce County, Washington for a child rape and weapons charge. He is 41 years old and from Washington state, but also has family in Montana. He is described as Hispanic, 41 years old, 6-feet tall and weighs 190 pounds. He has a large tattoo on his chest. Anyone with any information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS or the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office tip line at 503-723-4949 or leave a tip online at www.clackamas.us/sheriff/forms/tip.html. O'Malley Brothers (the company whose log truck White was driving) has offered a $2,500 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case, in addition to a $16,000 reward the county is offering. A donation fund has been set up by the Clackamas County Peace Officers Benevolent Foundation with 100 percent of donations going directly to the Waxenfelter family to help cover expenses. Donations can be made at any Clackamas County Federal Credit Union Branch, or they can be sent to CCPOBF, P.O. Box 678, Clackamas, OR 97015, with donations made out to "CCPOBF" with "Grady Waxenfelter Fund" in the memo line. www.kptv.com/story/24698039/countywww.kptv.com/story/24654915/deputies-investigating-reports-of-injured-officer-in-boringwww.oregonlive.com/clackamascounty/index.ssf/2014/02/tips_sought_evidence_uncovered.htmlcatchwmw.com/2014/02/14/wanted-armed-and-dangerous-dirck-white-seen-in-multiple-states/

The reason I decided to profile White as my non-AMW fugitive this month (aside from breaking news cases) is that this murder really pissed me off. I admittedly didn't know what a weighmaster was before learning of this case, and it is an interesting job, but not one you'd think would turn deadly. Reports say all Grady Waxenfelter did was pull White over in order to inspect his vehicle. He gets shot to death, allegedly by White, just for doing his job?
As we can see, Grady had lots of people who loved him, so let's get justice for a hard-working family man whose life was cut way too short.

Since he's wanted for homicide and child rape charges in two separate cases, I do fear that he's more likely to reoffend more than other violent fugitives. Hopefully he can get a profile on John Walsh's new CNN show.

A memorial tree and building have been named in Grady Waxenfelter's honor. Now there will always be that in Grady's memory, but let's bring his alleged killer to justice as well. Some additional info on White is learned in some of his aliases: At different times he has gone by Dirk Morgan White, Dirck C. White, Dirck M. White, Louis Cruz, Luis Cruz, Mario Cruz, PeeWee, Mario Pouce, Dirk White and Dirk C. White. www.oregonlive.com/clackamascounty/index.ssf/2014/05/clackamas_county_honors_weighm.html

Update: A man wanted for murder in Clackamas County was spotted firing a gun from a moving car in Iowa. Deputies are investigating the first potential sighting of Dirck White outside of Oregon. Clackamas County deputies said Iowa State Patrol responded to a 911 call last month about a man firing shots from his car on a highway near Des Moines. The car description and license plate ended up being a match for information connected to White. He was not found, however, and now local investigators are hoping to track down the unidentified witness who initially called 911. The incident happened April 5 on Highway 330. www.kptv.com/story/25625105/deputies-man-wanted-for-clackamas-co-murder-spotted-in-iowa

If this sighting is accurate, then Dirck White is a fugitive that really needs to be featured on The Hunt, even if it's a brief mention. He could have fled Oregon and gone all the way to Iowa, however this alleged sighting of him shooting a gun from his vehicle was a month ago, so he can be anywhere by now.

Authorities seem pretty confident it was White: www.oregonlive.com/clackamascounty/index.ssf/2014/05/federal_authorities_confirm_si.htmlThe Marshal interviewed also provided a possible motive which does make sense in that White could have mistook Grady Waxenfelter for a police officer. I think this proves even more how dangerous White is if he shot somebody because he thought they were a cop. It shows he wouldn't be afraid to shoot an actual one which is why he needs to be off the streets ASAP.

Hasn't been any news on this very dangerous fugitive in awhile so I'm glad authorities are keeping Dirck White's name in the media by increasing the reward.
