From the San Gabriel Valley Tribune:
In an effort to identify the girl whose body was discovered near a trail in Hacienda Heights, investigators released a composite sketch of her on Wednesday, March 6.
The child, known as Jane Doe #11 to the coroner’s office, was found Tuesday partially inside a bag. Her head and the upper portion of her body protruded from the bag, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Scott Hoglund during a news conference on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
She wore a pink top, with the words, “Future Princess Hero,” and patterned pants and was shoeless. Hoglund described her as a black girl, from 8 to 13 years old, 4-feet-5, skinny and weighing 55 pounds.
Hoglund said investigators are viewing the case as a suspicious death investigation. He said there were no visible signs of trauma to the body, and officials had no idea how long she had been dead. There were no signs of malnutrition. An autopsy is planned for this week, though detectives have sealed the coroner records from the public, based on a “security hold.”
“It’s a horrible tragic case our investigators are working diligently to solve,” Hoglund said.
Detectives believe the body was dumped sometime between Tuesday morning and Sunday night. They don’t know who did it or why.
At least one employee with the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation found the body near a trail off of Hacienda Boulevard shortly before 10 a.m. on Tuesday. The trail is below the Hsi Lai Temple.
Workers were doing trail maintenance, said Dora Nunez, special assistant and head of communications for the department.
Hoglund said the the bag ended up down an embankment. It was discovered in light brush, adjacent to the trail for equestrians and pedestrians. He said he was unsure whether the body was tossed from the road, of if the body was placed at the spot. Investigators showed a depiction of the bag found at the scene, describing it as a black roll-away type duffel bag.
Detectives are reviewing security footage from nearby homes and are calling for any witnesses to come forward if they saw anything suspicious along Hacienda Boulevard, or at a turnout south of Colima Road.
“We’re looking for any type of witnesses that may have been traveling in that area, they may have seen a vehicle pulled over to the side,” Hoglund said.
Detectives have also sent out notices to school districts, neighboring agencies, and missing-persons groups across the state.
Hoglund declined to say if anything else was found in the bag or whether detectives were reviewing fingerprints or DNA evidence.
Anyone with information about the case was asked to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tipsters can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or use its website: lacrimestoppers.org.

Thoughts? I am placing the Hacienda Heights Jane Doe case in the Unsolved on TV section because this tragic and heartbreaking case has made national media such as NBC, CNN, etc... It was initially feared that a missing California teen who was profiled on last night's "Missing" segment on A&E's "Live PD" might be this girl but thankfully it turned out to not be her and she was actually recovered safe. Unfortunately, that also means this little girl continues to not have a name. The good news is she was found earlier in the week, so this is in no means a cold case with lots of great clues to work with already. This is a very solvable case, and in my opinion, it's a matter of figuring out who she was, if she was murdered (it's being called a "suspicious death" right now) and finding the person that harmed her, if someone harmed her, before they can do this to any other innocent young child.
