(Above photo credit: theepochtimes.com) From ABC Houston: HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Police are searching for a man now charged with murdering a prominent Houston doctor. Dr. Mark Hausknecht was gunned down as he rode his bicycle to work in the Texas Medical Center on Friday, July 20. Houston police say tips that came in on Tuesday afternoon led them to Joseph James Pappas. Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo says Pappas' mother died during surgery more than 20 years ago, and they believe that is the motive in the murder of Dr. Hausknecht. At 4 a.m. today, police performed a search warrant. Pappas, 62, was not in the home at the time of the police search and cannot be located. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. Anyone with information on Pappas' whereabouts is asked to call 911. He is considered armed and dangerous, and police believe he may be suicidal. On Monday, Houston police tweeted out video of the suspect in a nearby neighborhood immediately following the doctor's shooting. abc13.com/hpd-man-charged-with-killing-doctor-may-have-sought-revenge/3862054/Thoughts? We previously discussed this case when the suspect in Dr. Hausknecht's killing was unknown, it is now known who the suspect is so I've moved the thread from unsolved on tv to fugitives on tv (placed in the tv airings section since the syndicated crime show "Crime Watch Daily" as well as other national media have covered the case- Dr. Hausknecht was former President George H.W. Bush's heart surgeon- which is partially why this has become such a well-known case) Pappas was still at large at the time of this posting (8/1/2018) Our previous thread on this case: amwfans.com/thread/7298/unknown-mark-hausknecht-killer-texasAdmin Note #1: According to reports, Anyone with information on Pappas' whereabouts is urged to contact the Houston Police Department Homicide Unit at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. Admin Note #2: If you have any (news-related) updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

Also heightening the danger here is according to reports Pappas tried to sell a number of guns and ammunition online five days after he allegedly shot and killed Dr. Hausknecht in broad daylight. (This is in addition to him being presumed suicidal). While I am sorry for what happened to Pappas' mother, there are always potential complications during a surgery and what happened could have been out of Dr. Hausknecht's control. Even if it wasn't, you file a wrongful death lawsuit, you don't shoot the doctor in broad daylight. (At that time of the day, there was good potential for other innocent bystanders to get hurt as well) abc13.com/doctors-alleged-killer-may-have-tried-to-sell-ammunition-online/3862054/

My friend is down in Houston for 9 days and I told him to be on the lookout for this guy, this is a very high profile case already and it already echos Jason Brown as Scumhunter has said.

Yeah I mentioned in the general FBI top ten discussion thread but I'll mention here as well that I feel Pappas is a potential breaking news top ten fugitive if he isn't caught soon. Broad daylight murder, (just like Jason Derek Brown case), high-profile murder, may have a ton of weapons and ammunition with him, may be suicidal etc...
We just have to hope he's caught soon before there's a need for that.

P.S. It is hard to get in the mind of a madman (that is what I feel Pappas is based on his alleged actions) to know for sure who he has a grudge with. But I do hope anyone who where it's felt he might hold a grudge is given proper warning and protection if necessary- if he has any past breakups, any jobs where he was fired etc...
Pappas is a former cop which makes him someone who knows how to shoot and I fear more so than usual with these fugitive cases the potential that someone else will be killed the longer Pappas stays on the run (if he's still alive).

I fear that he’s probably a step ahead of law enforcement given his background, I mean just look at Dan Hiers, but let’s hope Pappas doesn’t hurt anyone else most importantly.

Not surprised that happened to him, but glad this manhunt is over and the people of Houston don’t have to keep living in fear.

Glad it ended with only Pappas taking his life and no one else getting hurt.
He was mentally unhinged and imo was going to kill again if he wasn't caught soon.
