that's interesting (scary but also interesting)l. Mims doesn't strike me as a guy who will flee the country- no need to when he has connections who will hide him in the states, but I guess anything is possible when you're a top ten fugitive.

I'm wondering if they are getting tips on Mims from south of the border. Reason I say this? This link just posted to the FBI's site:

It’s possible that he could be in Mexico, but it also could be to reach out to the Spanish speaking community in the U.S. about Mims possibly being at large in states like Georgia that has a sizable Hispanic community.

I think because so many fugitives flee to Mexico it's to cover all bases. Like it's almost become a prerequisite for any fugitive on the list. Although I don't see it, it's theoretically possible Mims went to Mexico.

Can anyone see if the Gangster Disciples operate in Mexico? They at least have ties to Mexican drug trafficking organizations based on what I've seen online.

There is a gang called the Spanish Gangster Disciples who are allies with the Gangster Disciples (they are enemies of the Latin Kings). It looks like they are primarily based out of Chicago, but you never know: they may have deep roots into Mexico, too.
I should note that Mims' poster is only in English and not in Spanish: that podcast was released in Spanish, though.

Benton Harbor’s city government (where Tamon Mims gunned down 2 people in March) is trying to stop the killings at house parties as there was one back on July 1st. It also references Mims as well. Off topic but I am very shocked Mims has managed to surpass the 30 day mark, but let’s hope he can get caught before the end of the Summer at least. www.abc57.com/news/benton-harbor-officials-working-to-end-violence

I'm actually not surprised Mims is still on the run. Some fugitives they add to the list and I'm like that guy will be caught in a week while others I'm like "this may be a tough one." I felt like more of a middle ground with Mims.
I'm personally more surprised Alejandro Castillo hasn't been caught yet than I am Mims.
Also, I know I sound like a broken record but fugitive searches take time and it's just in this fast-paced world where you can have a latte come out of your phone in five seconds (ok not quite but getting there), the general public will get impatient and declare a fugitive hide-and-seek champion after only one week of them hiding. Fugitive searches have not and will never work that way. They're still trying to hide and one person in a sea of people isn't as easy as it looks on the surface.
Of course you don't want a case to turn into Robert Fisher and Jason Derek Brown where it's been over a decade now, but I personally don't panic over a top ten fugitive still being on the run until like at least a year later. (Even with Mederos and possibly Castillo I give some leeway with them being likely in Mexico, so more like a 2-year before panic with them).
As far as fugitives go, Mims is still within the time-frame of an average capture.

Excellent news! I will move Antwan to the Captures subforum section now. Glad to see he only spent one month on the list and the streets of Atlanta (where he was found) are a little bit safer now.

What it looks like right now is the FBI conducted an extensive investigation leading to his arrest (that's what the press release says, anyways).

And this is why I keep telling everyone not to panic! Glad he was caught and more importantly that no one was harmed in the process (I feared Mims had the potential to be a violent arrest based on his past history).
