Conor D'Monte is my Canadian fugitive of the month for the month of October 2017.
Below is a Crime Stoppers article on the case:
Conor D’Monte has been a fugitive on the run for five-and-a-half years and now Crime Stoppers needs your help to solve a mystery. Where could D’Monte be hiding?
D’Monte, the former leader of the United Nations gang more commonly known as the UN gang, is wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant in connection with the murder of rival gangster Kevin LeClair. He’s also wanted on conspiracy to murder the Bacon brothers and their associates.
From 2008 to 2009 the rival gang war spilled out onto the streets of Metro Vancouver, putting innocent lives at risk.
Kevin LeClair, a member of the Red Scorpions gang and known associate of the Bacon brothers, was gunned down in broad daylight on Feb. 6, 2009.
The very public ambush happened at a parking lot in front of a crowded grocery store in Langley’s Walnut Grove area. Dozens of bystanders were in harm’s way.
D’Monte was last seen in the Vancouver area in January, 2011. On April 1 of that year, he apparently signed over his $1.6 million dollar home to his wife, Jennifer Kong, at a law office near Metrotown in Burnaby.
In July 2011, a suspicious fire broke out at that home located on Pondora Street in Burnaby.
D’Monte is 6’1′, 201 pounds described as half Caucasian and half South Asian, with olive coloured skin and black shaved hair. He has a tattoo of Chinese characters on his left arm. He sometimes uses the name “Benzo”, “Brian Black” or “Manuel Nico Ortega.”
Police say it’s possible D’Monte may have modified his appearance and tattoos over the years he has been on the run.
He has been known to travel to the U.S. , Asia, Spain, South America and Mexico where he is believed to have ties to the Mexican drug network.
Two years ago, D’Monte’s alleged co-conspirator “Corry Vallee” was found in Guadalajara, Mexico. He was transported back to B.C. once authorities were notified.

Thoughts? Apparently the trial for Cory Vallee started in April. Frustratingly I found a zillion articles about the trial but none about a verdict. Perhaps it's possible that the trial hasn't ended yet since it took a three-week hiatus in June according to the Vancouver Sun. But if it has and there is a verdict I have no idea.
There is also a Vancouver Sun article which says that during the trial it was revealed that there was an alleged plot to kill Sun reporter Kim Nolan allegedly orchestrated by D'Monte. Nolan wrote the article about the plot herself.
