It seems Jesus Mederos was captured last year and his brother Santiago was added to the top ten list last year as well. I’m curious if Jesus Mederos Capture played a role in Santiago’s Addition to the FBI site and then subsequent the FBI Top Ten.

Who knows but not a bad theory! Apparently a federal arrest warrant for J. Mederos was issued in December 2016 (S.V. Mederos was issued in September 2016), Jesus Mederos would end up getting caught in May 2017 in Mexico. That same month Santiago was added to the FBI Featured fugitives site, and it seemed the reason they got to Jesus was through a well coordinated effort by Mexican authorities and the FBI. Again as I’ve stated I wouldn’t be surprised if Santiago is taken in the same way as his brother through a well coordinated investigation. www.co.pierce.wa.us/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=3906

Since we haven't had any new posts on this subforum in exactly a month, it should be noted that we are coming up on the one-year anniversary of him being on the FBI Ten Most Wanted list (September 25).
Neither Santiago or his two alleged accomplices have not been captured, eight years after the murders.

We can't have new posts if there aren't any updates to post about- but the arrest of Santiago's brother gives some hope that he may be arrested as well one day.

Anyone aware if Santiago’s brother assisted police in providing info on his possible location? Doubt it happened, but you never know.

His brother was already facing murder charges so the only carrot to inspire him would be a reduced sentence if convicted, 30 years instead of life or something and I'm not sure Police or the DA's office or Robert Tapia's family would go for that.

Here’s the U.S. Government’s Travel advisory for the following Mexican states Mederos is believed to be in Guerrero state – Level 4: Do Not Travel Do not travel due to crime. Armed groups operate independently of the government in many areas of Guerrero. Members of these groups frequently maintain roadblocks and may use violence towards travelers. U.S. government employees may not travel to the entire state of Guerrero, including Acapulco, Zihuatanejo, Ixtapa, and Taxco. Morelos state – Level 3: Reconsider Travel Reconsider travel due to crime. Violent crime and gang activity are common in parts of Morelos state. There are no restrictions on travel for U.S. government employees. Both states are in very critical tiers and it could explain why Mederos hasn’t been captured yet. They did arrest Jesus Munguia in the state of Michoacán which currently sits at level 4 as well, but given security forces are very limited in their capabilities. travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories/mexico-travel-advisory.html

A few things to say, first off it’s crazy that it’s been 10 years since Mederos went on the run, secondly, we did talk about this case over PM, not sure if we should share the speculations we made over PM onto the general discussion and also perhaps just the right public tip is needed to bring Mederos in once and for all. Mederos’s brother Jesus was found in the same general location where they are currently seeking Santiago, and I want to say he’s hiding somewhere in Cuernavaca, Morelos area as Guerrero would be very unlivable for him, since there’s a ton of violence going on there, but then again they did catch Hugo Villanueva Morales recently in Michoacán state a center of drug violence.

I feel it's safe to say publicly and this is only speculation on my part and not any proven fact- that I find it telling that Mederos is the only recent top ten fugitive to not get or is not scheduled a full-profile on In Pursuit for their first two seasons- which tells me they're more confident they can get him and need and/or needed more actual help from viewers with the other cases they've profiled. (Lamont Stephenson- thankfully now captured, Arnold Jimenez last week, Alejandro Castillo this week and Eugene Palmer later on this season)

I’m gonna call it and say he’ll be captured in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico, since it’s the same place his brother was captured.
