(Above photo credit: LAPD Crime Stoppers website) Fugitive Profile as of August 30th, 2014 (Based on LAPD Most Wanted website): Suspect: Sierra, Hilario Alias: "Lari" and "Triste" Descent: Hispanic Height: 6'0" Weight: 200 pounds Hair: Brown Eyes: Brown Date of Birth: Jul 26, 1977 Oddities: Scar on right eye, Tattoo of "WSK" on back in 4" letters Who to call if you've seen him: Detectives Compton and Han, Southeast Operations Support Division, at 213-485-6902, Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. During non-business hours, on weekends and holidays, contact the Department Command Post at 213-485-2504. Hilario Sierra is wanted by the LAPD for a truly horrific crime. He was aired once on AMW on Sep 9, 2000. Sometime in 1997, Sierra, Luis Rodriguez, Maria Nunez and an unidentified person committed a home robbery in Compton, in which the occupants were tied up and $30,000 in cash was stolen. The home invaders believed the house also contained narcotics. On Feb 2, 1998, the three previous home invaders, along with Sandro Perez, Jose Morales and Jose Arce drove in a blue van and stalked the same house. They saw Guadalupe Arreola and his 14-year old mentally challenged son Andres drive away in a red minivan in a nearby residence, neither were involved with drugs. When the two stopped, Sierra and Rodriguez ran up to the van and ordered the two to get to the back at gunpoint. The six then split up which vans they would drive. Andres was crying and told his father to give them whatever they wanted. The court article then stops so exactly what happened next isn't clear, however it the LAPD then mentions Sierra shot both Guadalupe and Andres to death then set their vehicle on fire with the two inside. Sierra then used the victim's ATM card the same day. Thoughts? This is another one of those cases where you wish AMW actually gave it a decent amount of attention instead of airing it once and forgetting about it. I doubt Sierra was the commercial break case on that episode however, that was probably breaking-news alert serial rapist Cesar Vicuna. The LAPD feels that Sierra fled to Mexico so he probably did that. www.lapdonline.org/southeast_most_wanted/most_wanted_view/12730www.fearnotlaw.com/wsnkb/articles/p_v_perez-4362.htmltv.msn.com/tv/series-episodes/america's-most-wanted-america-fights-back/?ipp=40&si=441 (Sep 9, 2000 episode) Admin Note: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

Pretty much agree with you. Just wanted to add the fact that he hasn't been aired since 2000 not to mention seemed to be removed to the website shortly afterwards is mind-boggling to me.

I understand there are a huge amount of gang members out of L.A. wanted for murder, but perhaps the double homicide of a father and his 14-year old mentally challenged son warranted some more profiles.

As of June 9th, 2018, Sierra is still listed on the LAPD most wanted website, which granted is not the most updated website, but enough for me to reasonably assume that he's probably still wanted as of this update. (Most wanted profile link is the same as in the OP).

Well AMW, it was a good decision to last air Sierra in 2000! *sarcasm for those who couldn't tell* Really glad to finally see Sierra in custody. I'm just annoyed that when you consider Ensenada isn't very far from the US border, if this manhunt didn't have to take 21 years to finish.

Honestly while I wish they aired him once, I'll count my blessings and just be glad he was caught. This can only be good news.
Unless there's some sort of extradition snafu the main thing is he is now captured and will now hopefully pay if convicted of the terrible and severely underrated in level of evil crimes he's allegedly committed.

Sorry meant to say more than once.
But yeah I guess the main gist of how I feel is beggars can't be choosers and I'll celebrate this amazing capture even if it should have happened sooner.

Under the impression he would <never> get caught, I'm grateful this day eventually came at all. But you're right about AMW. I don't understand why they had to blow the air time on Jane Doe cases they had no chance of solving by making it into a cheap horror movie or a student all the way in Japan who may or may not have been murdered and whose government wouldn't cooperate with American detectives. Even some fugitives who were still at large that they aired a dozen times who were still out there by the time AMW was cancelled could've been replaced with some easier-to-catch fugitives and cases with this level of pure callousness.

Remember when they did a special on the LA oil man whom everyone hated? Waste of time that could have been devoted to catching bad guys/gals that could have been caught or missing children.

Do you remember anything else about that case, and whether it was in Los Angeles or Louisiana (both abbreviated LA)?

Small moderator note: I understand that we all feel Hilario Sierra should have been profiled after 2000, and that he would been more likely to been caught than certain other cases aired on AMW.
I just recommend saying with caution saying "fugitive A" should have been profiled over "unsolved murder B". It's not that I disagree with the assessments, I just don't want some readers getting the wrong idea. We are all private citizens and entitled to our opinions, but all of the cases mentioned since Hilario's capture deserved to be solved.
My summary is that Hilario Sierra should have been considered for an airing after 2000, and he could have been a direct capture. It would have been better for AMW's success rate, especially in their last FOX season to profile more fugitives like Sierra (recent, very violent cases) over some of the other stories they put on instead.

I think we all agree perhaps AMW under-aired and/or over-aired some cases or in the "Steve Katz-era" made some weird decisions. My issue is that perhaps our comments should be reserved for more general threads rather than this thread about a capture where- I promise I'm in a good mood (I apologized in off-topic for due to family health issues seeming to show publicly I was in a bad mood recently lol)- but it's my opinion I think we're being kind of Debbie Downers right now on what should be amazing and great news and we should just focus on being happy Sierra was caught.
